The Mavericks will sign Quinn Cook to a 10-day contract.
They need another PG with Deron Williams on waivers, so they will try to strike gold with Cook after finding a gem in Yogi Ferrell. J.J. Barea (leg) is nearing a return, so Cook isn't worth a look in most leagues right now.
Lavoy Allen (knee) scored 10 points with 10 rebounds, one steal and one block in 21 minutes against the Grizzlies on Friday.
He picked up most of the backup power forward minutes and turned in a very nice game against the bigger Memphis frontcourt. Thaddeus Young looked fine and should play more, so leave Allen on the wire.
Ben Bentil will sign a 10-day deal with the Mavericks.
Bentil was the No. 51 pick in the 2016 Draft, but ended up in the D-League because he couldn't crack Boston's roster. He averaged 21.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.0 blocks as a sophomore at Providence, but he won't have much value in Dallas while Dirk Nowitzki is healthy.
Thaddeus Young scored 10 points in his return to the lineup on Friday with five rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 26 minutes.
He did not attempt a single shot deeper than six feet, which could be due to the sprain to his shooting wrist. Young isn't much of a shooter anyway, so it should not affect how he plays too much. He will likely see more than 26 minutes most nights and is expected to play on Saturday. He should be owned in all standard leagues.
C.J. Miles moved back into the starting lineup against the Grizzlies on Friday, scoring 17 points with four rebounds, one assist, two steals, two blocks and five 3-pointers in 22 minutes.
The Pacers got the good version of Miles with him leading the team in scoring. He should be sticking in the first unit and will be bombing treys for spacing, so he's worth a look if you need some scoring and 3-pointers. Of course, don't expect many two-block, two-steal games.
Glenn Robinson III played 14 minutes off the bench against the Grizzlies on Friday with five points, three rebounds ,one assist and one 3-pointer.
The reigning dunk champ should see a big hit in playing time. Robinson III won't be worth owning in almost all leagues while the Pacers are healthy. It sounds like Paul George will be OK.
Monta Ellis scored 16 points with one rebound, three assists and two 3-pointers in 24 minutes against the Grizzlies on Friday.
He looked like he was headed for a huge game with 14 points in the first half. Ellis has shown a lot of burst this month and he's about as hot as he's been all season. In his last five, he's averaged 13.4 points, 2.4. boards, 4.4 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.2 treys on 62.2 percent from the field. He's worth a long look in standard leagues right now.
Rakeem Christmas scored four points with five rebounds and one block in 14 minutes against the Grizzlies on Friday.
With Al Jefferson out, it was Christmas getting the backup minutes at the five. He played in the first quarter and actually had a +14 in +/- for his first six minutes. Jefferson shouldn't be out long, so leave Christmas on the wire.
