Braves sent RHP Josh Collmenter outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Collmenter successfully cleared waivers after being designated for assignment last week. The 31-year-old was roughed up for seven runs in one inning in his last appearance and owns an ugly 9.00 ERA and 2.06 WHIP in 11 games this year.

Adonis Garcia (heel) went 4-for-5 with two doubles and an RBI Monday in his third rehab game with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Garcia, out for two weeks with Achilles tendinitis, is 5-for-10 (.500) through three games on his rehab stint. He should be cleared to rejoin the Braves within the next couple of days. The 32-year-old was batting just .237/.278/.348 over 34 games prior to hitting the disabled list.

Reid Redman has retired.

Redman, 28, is probably best known for being a part of the Aaron Crow deal with the Marlins. He never pitched higher than the Double-A level, but posted a strong 2.86 ERA over 110 relief appearances in the minors.

Twins prospect outfielder Daniel Palka is out indefinitely with a fractured left index finger.

Palka suffered the injury over the weekend. The 25-year-old was a third-round pick in 2013 and has posted impressive power numbers in the minors. He was batting .261/.316/.452 with eight home runs and 22 RBI through 41 games in Triple-A this year.

Jeurys Familia (shoulder) hopes to be cleared to begin a throwing program in two weeks.

Familia underwent surgery earlier this month to remove an arterial blood clot from his right shoulder, but he said Monday that he's feeling good. He's still holding out hope to return down the stretch. Addison Reed will hold down the closer role for now.
May 30 - 9:22 AM

Pirates prospect right-hander Mitch Keller hasn't pitched for High-A Bradenton since May 16 due to a back injury.

Keller left his start that day due to back tightness and recently had the issue flare up again. Pirates general manager Neal Huntington said it "should be a relatively minor thing," but there's no clear timetable for his return. One of the top right-handed pitching prospects in the game, the 21-year-old Keller has a 2.92 ERA and 39/8 K/BB ratio in 40 innings across his first eight starts this season.
May 30 - 9:12 AM

Franklin Gutierrez (illness) flew out as a pinch-hitter Monday against the Cardinals.

Gutierrez was removed from Sunday's game due to illness, but he should be fine moving forward. The 34-year-old is batting .257/.333/.429 with one home run and three RBI through 21 games this season.
