Desmond Jennings went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored against the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Jennings is slowly approaching double digits in both homers and steals, as he has nine dingers to go with eight steals after Wednesday's game. That's a bit of a shock, as Jennings has always been known more for his speed than his power. He'll still almost certainly finish with more stolen bases than homers, but a little extra power never hurt, either.

Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer in the Cardinals' 4-1 defeat of the Cubs on Wednesday in St. Louis.

The two-run shot was Yadi's only hit of the night but it was a big gone, breaking a 1-1 tie and putting the Cardinals ahead for good. Molina, the best defensive catcher in baseball, is now batting .365/.406/.514 with five homers and 41 RBI. He might be the early NL MVP.

Jeremy Hellickson went six innings, allowing just two runs in a win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

The right-hander was pounded his last time out but rebounded well, holding the Red Sox to seven hits while striking out four. Hellickson has been up and down all year, as his ERA still sits at 5.50 despite being 5-3 on the season. He'll try to carry that momentum over into his next start against the Blue Jays on Monday.
Jun 19 - 11:16 PM

Starlin Castro finished 0-for-4 with a strikeout Wednesday in the Cubs' loss to the Cardinals.

Castro is now batting .235/.269/.327 and there seems to be no end in sight for his offensive struggles. Pete Kozma, the Cardinals' light-hitting shortstop, is at least batting .256 with a .303 OBP.
Jun 19 - 11:16 PM

Ryan Dempster allowed three runs over six innings to take the loss against the Rays on Wednesday.

The outing was similar to Dempster's other starts recently, as he's turned in quality starts in his last five outings. Despite the "quality" label, Wednesday's was mostly forgettable, as he allowed eight hits and two walks in his six innings of work. He'll take on the Rockies in his next time out on Tuesday.
Jun 19 - 11:12 PM

Jake Westbrook held the Cubs to one (unearned) run over seven innings Wednesday in a Cardinals victory.

It was his second start back from the disabled list and he looked sharp, yielding just two hits while inducing 15 groundball outs. Westbrook has hardly been dominant this season, but he's used his craftiness to work out of jams and currently boasts a 1.76 ERA in 51 total innings. He'll be a decent fantasy option next week in Houston.
Jun 19 - 11:12 PM

Edwin Jackson surrendered four earned runs over 5 1/3 innings Wednesday in a loss to the Cardinals.

Facing one of his many former teams, Jackson yielded six hits and gave up two walks -- a dangerous amount of baserunners for the Cardinals' hot lineup. The hard-throwing right-hander struck out only one batter. He'll carry a 3-9 record, 5.49 ERA and 1.55 WHIP into his next scheduled start in Milwaukee against the Brewers.
Jun 19 - 11:09 PM

Adam Lind hit a three-run homer in the Blue Jays' 5-2 victory over the Rockies on Wednesday.

The hit was Lind's only in four at-bats, but it was enough to give the Jays the win. Lind is quietly putting together a terrific season, as the homer was his ninth to go with a .340/.406/.555 batting line.
