Jonathan Papelbon tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning Saturday against the Nationals for his third save of the season.

He struck out one in the frame. Papelbon has been spotless on the young season, allowing just one hit with a 4/0 K/BB ratio across 5 1/3 innings of work.

Odubel Herrera was 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases in Saturday's win over the Nationals.

Herrera also drew a walk, so he reached base in four out of his five plate appearances. The Rule 5 pick has impressed in the early going, posting a .308/.372/.513 batting line across 12 games, including five straight starts out of the leadoff spot. The Phillies' lineup is terrible, but he's going to have some value in deeper formats with his speed.
Apr 18 - 4:44 PM

Freddy Galvis went 2-for-5 with two RBI on Saturday against the Nationals.

Galvis had a pair of RBI singles in the victory. The 25-year-old probably wouldn't be hitting second for any other team, but he's made starts from there in seven out of the last eight games. He's hitting .317 (13-for-41) with a .378 on-base percentage so far, so don't look for Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg to change it.
Apr 18 - 4:43 PM

Bryce Harper went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk against the Phillies on Saturday.

It was a long blast to straight-away center field which traveled 461 feet. Harper has now gone deep in back-to-back games and is batting .279/.404/.581 with four home runs and seven RBI on the year. If he can stay healthy, look out.
Apr 18 - 4:43 PM

Ian Desmond went 3-for-5 in Saturday's loss to the Phillies.

All three hits were singles. Desmond now has six hits in his last nine at-bats and has pulled his batting average up from .211 to .298. While he's swinging a hot bat right now, he continues to struggle miserably in the field. He committed his eighth error of the season Saturday and had another misplay on a potential double play ball.
Apr 18 - 4:42 PM

Brett Oberholtzer (blister) will throw live batting practice on Monday.

Oberholtzer hasn't thrown BP since getting a blister last month. If Monday goes well, the next step will be a short rehab assignment. Oberholtzer didn't set the world on fire last season (5-13, 4.39 ERA in 24 starts) but he was good enough to hold down a spot in the rotation. Veteran Roberto Hernandez could be the odd man out when Oberholtzer returns to the bigs.
Apr 18 - 4:33 PM

Jose Abreu blasted a grand slam home run on Saturday, helping to power the White Sox to a 12-3 victory over the Tigers in Detroit.

Abreu's slam came as part of a seven-run fourth inning that chased Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez. He would also add a single and a double in the rout, finishing the afternoon 3-for-6 with a pair of runs scored. He's now hitting .250/.302/.550 with three homers and six RBI on the young season.

Dodgers sent LHP David Huff outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Huff was designated for assignment by the Dodgers after allowing four runs over four innings in a spot start Tuesday night against the Mariners. The 30-year-old southpaw will continue to function as organizational rotation depth for Los Angeles.
