Bucs coach Dirk Koetter said Charles Sims (knee, injured reserve) will be activated "sooner than later."
It is an interesting phrasing considering Koetter said on Monday Sims would be back on the roster this week. If that was true, he would need to be activated very "sooner," as in by Saturday afternoon. It once looked like a lock Sims would be back this week, but now there is a bit of drama. The good news is Sims' status will be known by Saturday evening at the latest.
49ers signed TE Vance McDonald to a five-year, $35 million extension with $16 million guaranteed.
The deal locks up McDonald through 2021. Turning 27 next June, McDonald has enjoyed a mini-breakout season in Chip Kelly's offense, parlaying 24 catches into 391 yards with four touchdowns and averaging 16.3 yards per reception. Long prone to dropped passes, McDonald has dropped only three balls this year and has always possessed adequate blocking ability. McDonald played a season-high 91 percent of the 49ers' snaps in Week 13.
C.J. Prosise (shoulder) will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
Prosise is likely out the rest of the regular season but could be back for the playoffs. Thomas Rawls will remain an every-down back until Prosise returns.
Falcons LT Jake Matthews (knee) is questionable for Week 14 against the Rams.
Matthews was able to get in a limited practice Friday, but that was his only action of the week. Atlanta could decide to play it safe with their left tackle in a game they should be able to win going away. Tom Compton took over for Matthews after he left last week's game.
Jets SS Calvin Pryor has been removed from the Week 14 injury report.
He's cleared the concussion protocol. Pryor will miss only one game after sitting out last week. His return upgrades the Jets run defense.
Titans DE Jurrell Casey (questionable, foot) is a game-time decision for Week 14.
Casey didn't practice all week but coach Mike Mularkey isn't ruling him out for Sunday. It doesn't sound like he'll play more than limited snaps even if he manages to be active. Casey's status is an upgrade to Devontae Booker and Justin Forsett's matchups.
Josh Bellamy (shoulder) is questionable for Week 14 against the Lions.
Bellamy got in limited practices all week. He will likely play, and he is not a bad flier in deeper leagues after seeing 15 total targets the last two weeks.
Marquess Wilson (groin) is questionable for Week 14 against the Lions.
Wilson was able to practice on a limited basis Thursday and Friday. He will likely play, but Wilson is too risky to trust in fantasy lineups after his four-snap debacle last week. Josh Bellamy is looking like Chicago's No. 1 receiver. What a world.
