Jake McGee (elbow) is due to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with High-A Charlotte.

McGee was originally slated to join Charlotte on Monday, but the Rays wanted to see a couple more bullpen sessions from the left-hander, who's coming off December elbow surgery. He's now trending toward an early-May debut and the talented 28-year-old should move back into Tampa Bay's ninth-inning gig rather quickly. McGee posted a 1.89 ERA in 71 1/3 innings last season.

Devin Mesoraco (hip) is out of the Reds' starting lineup again on Monday.

Mesoraco drew a walk as a pinch-hitter on Sunday, but he still isn't able to catch due to a lingering left hip impingement. The 26-year-old slugger has logged just three at-bats since April 12, yet the Reds have refused to place him on the disabled list. Brayan Pena is starting behind the plate on Monday night against the Brewers.

Indians prospect Francisco Lindor finished Sunday's doubleheader with four hits for Triple-A Columbus.

Lindor has raised his average from .191 to .302 during his four-game hitting streak. The 21-year-old has always been a defensive wizard but it's taken a while for his bat to catch up. Lindor's long-awaited big league debut could be coming shortly, especially if he continues to feast on Triple-A pitching.

Delmon Young is batting third for the Orioles on Monday night versus the White Sox.

Young gets the boost after a massive weekend showing versus Boston. He went 3-for-6 with three runs scored and five RBI in Sunday's 18-7 rout of the Red Sox. Adam Jones will bat cleanup behind Young on Monday against Chicago right-hander Hector Noesi.

Josh Hamilton has been spotted at the Rangers' Globe Life Park.

Which presumably means the trade sending him from Anaheim to Texas has been completed and will be formally announced on Monday afternoon. The Angels are reportedly going to eat $68 million of the $80 million owed to Hamilton. His deal will also now reportedly carry an opt-out clause for after the 2016 season. Hamilton is due back from shoulder surgery in mid-May. It's a pretty great deal for Texas if the 33-year-old outfielder can stay on the straight and narrow.

Jarrod Dyson is starting in right field for the Royals on Monday night against the Indians.

Dyson will bat ninth, but his speed should attract daily leaguers. The 30-year-old speedster is among the most aggressive base-stealer in the majors, boasting 120 steals in 361 career games (235 starts). Paulo Orlando will be on the bench Monday night.

Astros prospect Domingo Santana cracked three hits Sunday in a win for Triple-A Fresno.

All three of his hits went for extra bases as Santana tormented Reno with two homers and a double. Santana's four RBI represent a new season-high. Houston's third-ranked prospect on MLB.com still strikes out too much (23 Ks in 52 at-bats), but it's easy to look past that when Santana is hitting a robust .308 with a .673 slugging percentage. He should get another chance in the big leagues later this year.

A second opinion of Justin Verlander's MRI results confirmed the initial diagnosis of a triceps strain.

Verlander remains shut down from throwing due to lingering soreness in the upper part of his throwing arm and he won't be cleared for catch until he's completely discomfort-free. The veteran right-hander seems unlikely to join the Tigers' rotation before the end of May. Kyle Lobstein has been filling in.
