Adam Wainwright (Achilles) is no longer wearing a walking boot on his left foot.

It's not clear what the next step is for the right-hander. Wainwright is holding out hope that he could be available late this season after having Achilles surgery in April, but the Cardinals will almost surely hold him out until spring training.

Nolan Arenado is not in the Rockies' lineup Sunday.

It's simply a day of rest for Arenado. Daniel Descalso is filling in at third base.
Jul 5 - 1:24 PM

Cardinals recalled LHP Tim Cooney from Low-A Peoria.

Cooney will get another start during Tuesday's doubleheader in Chicago with Jaime Garcia (groin) going on the disabled list. The lefty pitched well his last time out, holding the Padres to two earned runs over six frames, but he's not a particularly enticing fantasy option.
Jul 5 - 1:22 PM

Yasmani Grandal is absent from the Dodgers' lineup Sunday.

It's a simple day off. A.J. Ellis will catch while Grandal comes off the bench.
Jul 5 - 1:11 PM

Jimmy Rollins is not in the Dodgers' lineup Sunday.

The struggling infielder is getting a breather. Kike Hernandez is at shortstop in Rollins' place.
Jul 5 - 1:10 PM

Dodgers recalled LHP Daniel Coulombe from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Coulombe has allowed six runs over 6 1/3 relief innings for the Dodgers this season. He'll be used in the middle innings.
Jul 5 - 1:08 PM

Dodgers placed RHP Carlos Frias on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 1, with lower back tightness.

Frias was able to get through a bullpen session Saturday, but his back still isn't 100 percent so the Dodgers have decided to play it safe. Juan Nicasio is expected to fill in for Frias on Monday versus the Phillies in what will be a bullpen start.
Jul 5 - 1:07 PM

Cardinals placed LHP Jaime Garcia on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 25, with a left groin strain.

Garcia got through a bullpen session on Saturday without any apparent issues with his groin, but he reported some discomfort when he arrived at the park Sunday. The Cardinals are hoping he'll be ready to go right after the All-Star break. Tyler Lyons and Tim Cooney will now start during Tuesday's doubleheader versus the Cubs.
