Nationals recalled RHP Reynaldo Lopez from Triple-A Syracuse.

Lopez flashed his potential during his first start by registering nine strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings of work, but he was also torched for six runs on 10 hits in a losing effort. He could be worth the gamble as a tournament flier in daily leagues due to his high-strikeout upside.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Indians and Rangers have talked to the Yankees about Carlos Beltran.

The switch-hitting outfielder would be an immense upgrade to either lineup, though the cost to acquire him could be steeper than either club is willing to pay. They would have to offer more value than the Yankees feel they would get from the compensation pick they would get from Beltran leaving via free agency after the season.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that Derek Norris is a near-lock to be moved before the trade deadline.

Rosenthal also notes that Norris is a much more likely target for the Rangers than Jonathan Lucroy would be. The 27-year-old is only hitting .204/.263/.279 on the season, though he does have 12 homers, 33 RBI and five stolen bases. The Padres want to move him to create a spot for Austin Hedges to share the catching duties with Christian Bethancourt.

Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that the Rangers and Braves have inquired on the availability of Yankees catcher Brian McCann.

Heyman notes that the Yankees aren't likely to deal the hard-hitting backstop and that the discussions between these clubs happened several days ago. The Braves are known to be on the hunt for next season's starting catcher, preferring to acquire one through trade, though a reunion with McCann looks highly unlikely.

Angels sent OF Todd Cunningham outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Cunningham passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as organizational outfield depth for the Halos. He hit just .148/.179/.259 in 29 plate appearances with the Angels.
Jul 30 - 1:08 PM

Padres recalled RHP Leonel Campos from Triple-A El Paso.

In the wake of Thursday's trade with the Marlins, the Padres were short on bullpen arms so Campos will get another opportunity. The 29-year-old owns a 7.94 ERA, 1.94 WIHP and 7/6 K/BB ratio in 5 2/3 innings with the Padres this season.
Jul 30 - 1:05 PM

Padres recalled INF Jose Rondon from Double-A San Antonio.

The 22-year-old infielder will provide depth for the Padres and should be given an opportunity to show what he can do. Rondon was hitting .279/.310/.386 with five homers, 44 RBI and 13 stolen bases at Double-A.
Jul 30 - 1:04 PM

Giants optioned OF Jarrett Parker to Triple-A Sacramento.

Parker was the odd-man out with Eduardo Nunez joining the club on Friday and Hunter Pence due back on Saturday. He'll continue to provide depth at Triple-A and should be back with the Giants in September or should injury strike in the outfield.
