Adam LaRoche blasted a two-run homer as the White Sox fell to the Orioles in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader.

He finished the game 1-for-3 plus a walk, with his fifth inning bomb coming off of O's starter Mike Wright. LaRoche also had a big day in the first game of the twinbill, going 3-for-4 with an RBI. He's now slashing .235/.363/.383 with five homers and 20 RBI on the year and seems to be breaking out of his early-season funk.

White Sox optioned RHP Chris Beck to Triple-A Charlotte.

Beck made a spot start in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Orioles, allowing four runs on 10 hits over his six innings of work. The 24-year-old also issued four free passes while punching out three on the night. He should get another opportunity the next time the White Sox need an extra starter.

Xander Bogaerts was removed from Thursday's game against the Rangers after being hit by a pitch in his left wrist.

He remained in the game for a few innings after he was drilled, but was pinch-hit for his next time through the order. He'll presumably head for precautionary X-rays and the Red Sox should have an update on his status after the game.

Brewers sent RHP Rob Wooten outright to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

He's already pitching at Triple-A, but this clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the Brewers. He'll continue to try to get back on track in the minors before hopefully rejoining the Brewers bullpen later in the season.

Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports that the Diamondbacks will recall Jarrod Saltalamacchia from Triple-A Reno on Friday.

With Tuffy Gosewish dealing with an injury, recalling the veteran backstop seemed the logical conclusions for the Diamondbacks to make. Fantasy owners expecting him to make an impact should note his uninspiring .188/.222/.375 line with two homers, seven RBI and a 13/2 K/BB ratio in nine games at Triple-A Reno.
May 28 - 9:09 PM

Brandon Morrow (shoulder) threw three successful innings in a simulated game on Thursday.

The next step in the recovery process will be to go out on a minor league rehab assignment which is expected to require two starts. Barring any setbacks, he should be ready to rejoin the Padres rotation in a couple of weeks.
May 28 - 9:06 PM

Slade Heathcott was scratched from the Yankees lineup on Thursday with soreness in his right quadriceps.

Chris Young will take his place and play center field for the Bombers on Thursday. Consider Heathcott day-to-day.
May 28 - 9:04 PM

Orioles optioned RHP Tyler Wilson to Triple-A Norfolk.

He pitched well in a spot start in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader. He should get another opportunity the next time the O's need an extra arm.
