A.J. Pollock is not in the Diamondbacks starting lineup on Saturday.

He was forced to leave Friday's game due to tightness in his hamstring, and it sounds as though manager Chip Hale wants to give him an extra day just to be safe. Cliff Pennington is starting in left field and will bat ninth for the D'Backs.

Ben Zobrist clubbed a pair of solo home runs on Saturday, leading the Royals to a 7-6 victory over the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Zobrist got the scoring started with a solo shot off Jays starter Mark Buehrle in the first inning. He then took Mark Lowe deep in the eighth inning, tying the game at 5-5 and igniting a rally that would lead the Royals to victory. He also doubled in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 3-for-4 with three runs scored.

Yordano Ventura was hit hard in Saturday's victory over the Blue Jays, allowing five runs on six hits over his seven frames.

Ventura walked a pair and struck out two on the afternoon. Thankfully for him, the Royals offense came to play and did enough to secure his victory. Part of Ventura's problem was his inability to keep the ball in the yard, as Josh Donaldson and Jose Bautista launched back-to-back homers in the fifth inning. Now 6-7 on the season, he'll carry a 4.98 ERA and 1.30 WHIP into Friday's matchup against the White Sox.
Aug 1 - 3:41 PM

Jose Bautista blasted a pair of home runs on Saturday, but it still wasn't enough for the Blue Jays to overcome the Royals.

Bautista followed teammate Josh Donaldson's two-run shot with a solo homer in the fifth inning that gave the Jays a 5-1 lead at the time. He would add another long solo blast in the eighth off Wade Davis to pull the Jays to within a run at 7-6, but that would be as close as they would get. He also singled in the ballgame, finishing the afternoon 3-for-4 with three RBI. Bautista is now hitting .237/.365/.503 with 23 homers and 70 RBI on the season.
Aug 1 - 3:40 PM

Mark Buehrle pitched well in a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits over his seven innings of work.

The veteran southpaw struck out three and didn't issue a walk in the ballgame. He left in line for his 12th victory of the season, but the Blue Jays bullpen was unable to protect his lead. He'll bring an impressive 3.32 ERA and 1.17 WHIP into Thursday's start against the Twins.

White Sox recalled RHP Scott Carroll from Triple-A Charlotte.

Carroll seems to be the go-to guy anytime the White Sox need a fresh arm in the bullpen. The 30-year-old has appeared in 12 games for the big league club this season, posting a 3.28 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 15/9 K/BB ratio over 24 2/3 innings.
Aug 1 - 3:39 PM

White Sox placed OF J.B. Shuck on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring.

The 28-year-old outfielder has done a nice job in a bench role for the White Sox, slashing .278/.339/.361 with 11 RBI in 97 at-bats. He should be ready to rejoin the club in mid-August.
Aug 1 - 3:37 PM

Orioles recalled RHP Jorge Rondon from Triple-A Norfolk.

The 27-year-old hurler was claimed off waivers from the Rockies in early May and has posted a 2.01 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 35/10 K/BB ratio over 40 1/3 innings at Triple-A Norfolk. He'll work in middle relief for the Orioles.
