The Twins said after Saturday's game that Fernando Romero is being sent down in favor of a reliever.

Romero hadn't been great this month, but he hadn't been all that bad, either, in amassing a 4.71 ERA in his four starts. The Twins won three of those four games, too. Overall, he was 3-3 with a 4.38 ERA and a 44/19 K/BB ratio over 51 1/3 innings in his 10 starts, and the good certainly outweighed the bad. It's uncertain who will replace him in the rotation, but Adalberto Mejia would seem to be a good guess. He's allowed just four runs in his last four starts in Triple-A.

Blake Treinen recorded the final five outs against the White Sox on Saturday, protecting a one-run lead to earn his 17th save.

Treinen continues to shine in the closer's role for the A's, retiring all five hitters that he faced in order on Saturday. He owns a stellar 0.98 ERA on the season.

Blue Jays activate RHP Marcus Stroman from the 10-day disabled list.

Sanchez (shoulder) will make his first start since May 8 tonight against the Angels.
Jun 23 - 6:19 PM

Blue Jays placed RHP Aaron Sanchez on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to June 22, with a right index finger contusion.

The move makes room for Marcus Stroman, who is starting against the Angels tonight. Sanchez's injury means both Jaime Garcia and Sam Gaviglio will keep their rotation spots for now. Still, Sanchez might miss just one start.

Daniel Mengden struggled in a no-decision against the White Sox on Saturday, allowing five runs on four hits in just two innings of work.

The right-hander walked one and struck out one in the abbreviated outing. All of the damage against him came in the first inning, capped off by a three-run homer from Tim Anderson. It's the fourth straight disastrous start for Mengden, who has seen his ERA balloon from 2.91 to 4.47 during that stretch. He'll try to stop the bleeding when he does battle against the Indians on Friday.

Tim Anderson homered for the second straight game as the White Sox fell to the Athletics on Saturday afternoon.

Anderson clubbed a three-run homer in the first to give the White Sox an early 5-0 lead. He also singled in the game, going 2-for-4. The dynamic shortstop is now hitting .239/.302/.436 with 13 homers, 31 RBI and 14 swipes.

Dylan Covey wasn't at his best in a no-decision against the Athletics on Saturday, surrendering four runs on two hits over four-plus innings of work.

Covey also issued four walks on the afternoon while recording just one strikeout. Staked to an early 5-0 lead, Covey couldn't keep the train on the tracks for five innings, allowing a two-run homer to Stephen Piscotty in the second, then allowing the first two batters to reach before departing in the fifth, both of which would come around to score. He'll carry a 3.45 ERA and unappealing 1.42 WHIP into Friday's start against the Rangers in Texas.

Lorenzo Cain had to leave Saturday's game against the Cardinals because of groin tightness.

This comes two days after he left a game with a hamstring cramp. Ryan Braun replaced him today. Consider Cain to be day-to-day.
