Yankees released RHP Esmil Rogers.

They've sold his rights to the Hanwha Eagles in Korea. Rogers posted a 6.27 ERA and 1.67 WHIP in 33 innings with the Yankees but should now get a nice little pay raise.

Yankees released RHP Esmil Rogers.

Rogers, who was outrighted to the minors on July 1, is going to Korea to pitch for the Hanwha Eagles. He had a 6.27 ERA in 33 innings for the Yankees this season.

Rays recalled RHP Kirby Yates from Triple-A Durham.

Yates replaces Kevin Jepsen on the roster and in the bullpen. He's given up five runs in 7 1/3 innings in the majors this season, but he should prove better given a longer look.

Marlins released infielder Jeff Baker.

Baker had been on the disabled list since July 10 with a strained intercostal muscle. He had just 72 at-bats before going down, hitting .208/.288/.375. He was in the second year of a two-year, $3.7 million contract.

Marlins activated INF Jeff Baker from the 15-day disabled list; released hmi.

Baker is apparently over his intercostal strain but is now looking for a new job. The 34-year-old has hit only .208/.288/.375 this season, but he's been a big weapon versus lefties in the past so someone figures to take a shot on him.

Twins acquired RHP Kevin Jepsen from the Rays for RHP Chih-Wei Hu and RHP Alexis Tapia.

Jepsen has pretty much the same ERA this year as last (2.81 vs. 2.63), but it's come with weaker peripherals. Last year for the Angels, he had a 75/23 K/BB ratio in 65 innings. This year, he has a 34/20 K/BB ratio in 41 2/3 innings. The Twins will try him in a setup role and hope for the best, but it'd be no surprise to see him start to fade.

Rays acquire RHP Chih-Wei Hu and RHP Alexis Tapia from the Twins for RHP Kevin Jepsen.

Hu, a 21-year-old from Taiwan, has been one of the Florida State League's best pitchers this year, amassing a 2.44 ERA and a 73/19 K/BB ratio in 84 2/3 innings. He doesn't throw very hard and his palmball/changeup is his best pitch, so it will be interesting to see how he performs at higher levels. Tapia a 19-year-old in Rookie ball and isn't viewed as a top prospect.

ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Rockies have told teams they will revisit trading Carlos Gonzalez next month or over the winter.

They evidently haven't been able to find a robust enough market for CarGo this month. Gonzalez is one of the hottest hitters in baseball with a .431/.481/.958 batting line and 11 homers over his last 18 games.
