Retired WR Calvin Johnson will participate in the next season of "Dancing With the Stars."

Several other current and former NFLers including Antonio Brown and Hines Ward have participated in the show. At the very least, this announcement should put thoughts of a 2016 return to bed.

Packers waive/injured RB John Crockett (shoulder), TE Mitchell Henry (hand), and TE Kennard Backman (knee).

All three will revert to injured reserve after they pass through waivers, and it is possible all three are released with injury settlements. Crockett was expected to serve as the No. 3 back behind Eddie Lacy and James Starks,

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Randall Cobb "played the whole season last year injured."

Cobb injured his shoulder in the third preseason game last year, and that issue apparently affected him all season. Cobb said the injury prevented him from lifting weights, which led to him losing a lot of strength. Now healthy, Cobb has put back on the weight and then some. He looks poised for a bounce-back season.

Ryan Tannehill said he feels "comfortable" in the new offense.

"I feel in charge of our offense now, in command of what we're doing out there," Tannehill added. "It's fun to get out there and get up to the line, get our guys in the right spots and keep the pressure on the defense." Famously not allowed to audible in the last offensive system in Miami, Tannehill is obviously relishing the opportunity to actually play quarterback. With plenty of weapons around him and more rushing upside than he displayed last year, Tannehill is a good candidate to jump back into the low-end QB1 ranks.

Bears OLB Pernell McPhee (knee) is still on the active/PUP list.

GM Ryan Pace did not seem concerned about McPhee's Week 1 availability earlier this month, but he remains on the PUP less than two weeks from the start of the regular season. Always forthcoming with injury news, coach John Fox said, "When he’s healthy we’ll have him out there." Fox did acknowledge the reserve/PUP is a possibility, one that becomes larger with every missed practice.

Bears TE Zach Miller and WR Eddie Royal returned to full practice Monday.

Both had been limited for almost a month because of concussions. Now fully cleared, both can return to game action, although it is unlikely either suits up in the preseason finale Thursday night. Miller has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career, but he has TE1 upside if he can remain on the field.

Former Oregon TE Colt Lyerla was arrested for heroin possession Sunday.

Supremely gifted, Lyerla's career has been derailed by drug issues. Waived by the Packers in 2014 after suffering a knee injury, Lyerla was popped for driving under the influence of intoxicants just weeks later. He was also cited for cocaine possession in college. Lyerla had been playing in the Arena League.

Free agent OLB Paul Kruger will visit the Saints Tuesday.

He also has a visit scheduled with the Chiefs later in the week. Cut by the Browns on Monday, Kruger is easily the best pass rusher on the market and makes a lot of sense for both teams. New Orleans just missed out on landing Kruger in 2013, and they need all the help they can get rushing the passer. Kansas City is thin at outside backer with Justin Houston (knee) out indefinitely.
