Travis Wood - S - Cubs

Travis Wood surrendered five earned runs in 5 2/3 innings Saturday as the Cubs fell to the Reds.

Facing his former team, Wood yielded seven hits and three walks while throwing just 69 of his 115 pitches for strikes. It snapped a streak of nine straight quality starts for the left-hander. The regression could certainly continue in his next outing against the White Sox.

Tyler Flowers - C - White Sox

Tyler Flowers was scratched from the lineup Saturday due to back spasms.

The injury is likely just day-to-day, as Flowers has started the previous four games for the White Sox. Flowers is hitting .202/.269/.345 and is the primary catcher for the White Sox this season.

Jim Henderson - R - Brewers

Brewers placed RHP Jim Henderson on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Henderson injured the hamstring during Friday's game, and it turned out to be severe enough to require a trip to the DL. A corresponding roster move will be made on Sunday. There is no indication as to who might save games while Henderson is out. Francisco Rodriguez and John Axford are the primary candidates.

Pedro Alvarez - 3B - Pirates

Pedro Alvarez hit two home runs and drove in three in the Pirates' 5-2 win over the Brewers on Saturday.

We've seen this dance from Alvarez before, as the third baseman now has 10 homers and 25 RBI but just a .199 batting average. He finally put it all together to hit 30 bombs last season, and we're expecting a similar output again. A slow starter, Alvarez is heating up with the weather and is a buy-low candidate if you're in the market for cheap power.

Carlos Gomez - OF - Brewers

Carlos Gomez went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs but the Brewers lost to the Pirates on Saturday.

The multi-homer game was Gomez's first in his career, but he was the only one able to do any damage against the Pirates on Saturday. He now has eight home runs on the year and a .331/.376/.586 line to go with nine stolen bases. The average is still likely to come down quite a bit when all is said and done, but he's showing last season's counting-stats breakout was for real.

Jeff Locke - S - Pirates

Jeff Locke threw six scoreless innings to pick up his fifth win of the season Saturday as the Pirates beat the Brewers.

It was Locke's second-consecutive scoreless start, and his season ERA is now down to 2.45 through 10 total outings this season. The left-hander yielded just three hits and three walks while striking out seven. He hasn't taken a loss since his first start of the year on April 7. He'll take the mound again Thursday against the Tigers.

Michael Fiers - R - Brewers

Mike Fiers allowed four runs -- including three homers -- in four innings Saturday in a loss to the Pirates.

It was only Fiers' second start of the year and his first since April 6. And he looked out of place. Fiers allowed homers to Andrew McCutchen, Pedro Alvarez and Neil Walker in his four innings, and the right-hander now has a 6.62 ERA on the year. He is not fantasy-relevant.

P.J. Walters - S - Twins

P.J. Walters held the Tigers to two runs over seven innings Saturday in a 3-2 Twins victory.

The Twins had a 3-0 lead after the top of the first inning so Walters simply pounded the strike zone, allowing eight hits but issuing only one walk against the dangerous Tigers attack. Walters had some solid numbers at Triple-A Rochester and should get some more looks in Minnesota, but he's never going to be a good fantasy option. The Twins' losing streak is over at 10 games.
