Scott Schebler is not in the Reds' lineup Saturday against the Marlins.

Jul 22 - 5:01 PM

Byron Buxton (groin) will not require a minor league rehab assignment.

Buxton will travel with the team for their upcoming series against the Dodgers and could be activated for Tuesday's series opener. That would be the first day he's eligible to come off the disabled list. Buxton has made a rapid recovery after suffering a strained groin in his first game back from the All-Star break last Friday.
Jul 22 - 5:00 PM

Hector Santiago (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

He'll throw between 30 and 35 pitches on Tuesday. Santiago will need at least three minor league outings before he's ready to rejoin the Twins' starting rotation. Upper back inflammation has kept the left-hander out for the past few weeks.
Jul 22 - 4:57 PM

Glen Perkins (shoulder, biceps) pitched a scoreless inning in his first rehab outing Saturday for the Gulf Coast Twins.

Perkins registered two strikeouts while reaching 90 mph on his fastball. The left-hander will likely make one more appearance in rookie ball before moving up to High-A Fort Myers. Shoulder issues have sidelined Perkins since April of 2016.
Jul 22 - 4:56 PM

Updating a previous item, Troy Tulowitzki is missing Saturday's game against the Indians with a groin injury.

Manager John Gibbons is hoping to have him back in a day or two but because of the team's short bench, the Jays would probably place Tulowitzki on the disabled list if the injury lingers past Monday. Ryan Goins drew the start at shortstop on Saturday.
Jul 22 - 4:52 PM

Brian McCann is out of the Astros' lineup Saturday against the Orioles.

He's just getting a maintenance day. Evan Gattis will start behind the plate and bat fifth Saturday versus O's right-hander Chris Tillman.
Jul 22 - 4:45 PM

Curtis Granderson is out of the Mets' lineup Saturday against the Athletics.

Granderson is hitless in 10 at-bats since the All-Star break and hasn't seen much action since Michael Conforto's return from the disabled list. The Mets' outfield Saturday will feature Yoenis Cespedes in left, Conforto in center and Jay Bruce in right.
Jul 22 - 4:40 PM

Asdrubal Cabrera is starting at third base Saturday against the Athletics.

It will be his first career start at third base and only his second MLB appearance at the hot corner after playing part of one game there as a rookie in 2007. The Mets, who have already moved Cabrera once this season (and he wasn't happy about it), are transitioning Cabrera to third with second baseman Neil Walker expected to come back off the disabled list any day now. Surely the Mets are also hoping Cabrera's versatility will make him more appealing to teams at the trade deadline.
