Jordan Reed (hamstring) missed Monday and Tuesday's practices ahead of Thursday's game against the Giants.

Texans released QB Josh Johnson.

The Texans needed to clear a roster spot for Andre Ellington, who was claimed off waivers from Arizona. Johnson had been working as Houston's third-string quarterback behind Tom Savage and T.J. Yates. He hasn't played a regular season snap since 2013.

Free agent CB Nolan Carroll worked out for the Saints on Tuesday.

New Orleans also took a look at LB Jayrone Elliott, DE Malliciah Goodman and DE George Johnson. The Saints could be looking to add a cornerback with Marshon Lattimore (ankle) banged up, though they already re-signed Sterling Moore earlier this week. Carroll has yet to find a team since being let go by Dallas in mid-October, though he did work out for the Redskins last month.

Trevor Siemian will be the backup to Paxton Lynch against the Raiders in Week 12.

He was demoted to third string last week against Cincinnati but will be in uniform Sunday at Oakland. With Siemian as the new No. 2, Brock Osweiler will likely be a healthy scratch in Week 12.
Nov 21 - 6:37 PM

Saints placed DE Alex Okafor on injured reserve with a torn Achilles, ending his season.

He was hurt in Sunday's win over Washington. Okafor was having a nice bounce-back year before the injury, earning PFF's No. 14 grade out of 64 qualifiers at 4-3 defensive end. The 2013 fourth-round pick will hit free agency this offseason.

49ers GM John Lynch wouldn't commit to the 49ers starting Jimmy Garoppolo against the Seahawks in Week 12.

Lynch said that decision will be made by head coach Kyle Shanahan, though Garoppolo certainly doesn't seem like a lock to start, even after getting the bye week to familiarize himself with the team's playbook. "You guys obviously know what we think of Jimmy in terms of why we brought him here," said Lynch. "But we also think highly of C.J. [Beathard], enough to trade up to the third round to get him." Beathard is coming off his best game of the season against the Giants, though Garoppolo remains San Francisco's quarterback of the future. We'd still bet on Garoppolo starting at some point this year, but it may not happen for another week or two.
Nov 21 - 6:23 PM

Mike Williams (knee) remained limited at Tuesday's practice.

Williams should be fine for Thursday's Thanksgiving game in Dallas. The rookie set career-highs with five catches and 38 yards in Week 11. He's still looking for his first career touchdown.
Nov 21 - 6:08 PM

Seahawks waived DE Dwight Freeney.

Signed in late October, the 16-year veteran lasted four games in Seattle. Freeney tallied three sacks as a situational pass rusher, so it's a bit surprising he's being cut loose. 2017 is the longtime Colt's age-37 season. It's possible he gets a look elsewhere. Despite being a vested veteran, Freeney must go through waivers since it's after the trade deadline.
