CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the trade market for Jonathan Papelbon "seems light, if existent."

Papelbon has had a fine season, posting a 1.91 ERA while saving 24 games in 28 chances, but Heyman says "there seemingly isn't strong interest," especially with the Angels and Tigers having already acquired relievers. The Phillies are prepared to eat a portion of the $18 million guaranteed to Papelbon through the end of next season, but he also has a vesting option for 2016, something that Heyman notes "can be sticky for acquiring teams."

Astros transferred RHP Matt Albers from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

The move clears space on the 40-man roster for Gregory Petit. Albers has been out since late April with right shoulder tendinitis and isn't close to returning.

Astros optioned RHP Anthony Bass to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Bass allowed 10 earned runs over nine relief innings after being activated from the DL earlier this month. He should get another chance later this season.
Jul 25 - 4:15 PM

Astros purchased the contract of INF Gregorio Petit from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Astros needed some infield depth with Marwin Gonzalez (hamstring) banged up. Petit hasn't played in the majors since 2009 but was batting .297/.340/.457 with 10 homers at Triple-A.

David Ortiz is back in the Red Sox' lineup Friday.

Big Papi didn't play Thursday after exiting Wednesday's game with back spasms, but he's made a quick recovery. The designated hitter will be facing David Price, who he had some harsh words for last month after Price hit him with a pitch.
