Leury Garcia still has some minor swelling on the top of his left hand.

The White Sox will wait until he's fully recovered before throwing him into game action again after they rushed him back too quickly the last time around. It's looking like it could be at least a couple weeks before Garcia returns.

Tyler Saladino (back) fielded groundballs in pre-game on Tuesday.

Saladino says that his back -- which he noted previously had been an issue since last season -- is now pain-free. He'll need a rehab assignment before returning and it's unclear when that might happen.

Red Sox manager John Farrell on Tuesday wouldn't rule out using others in the designated hitter spot even after Hanley Ramirez (knee) is able to play.

Farrell noted that he didn't want to "completely turn away from what Hanley did last year," adding that he thinks he's "still a key member in our lineup." However, Farrell noted Ramirez's struggles this season against lefties (.143/.333/.229), so at the very least it sounds like we could see some others get a shot versus southpaws. Sam Travis would seem to be an obvious candidate for extra at-bats.

Carlos Gomez is not in Tuesday's lineup because of a sore back.

It doesn't sound like a big deal, but the Rangers figured it would be best to give him a little rest. Delino DeShields is in center field.
Jun 27 - 5:10 PM

Danny Salazar (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Akron on Saturday.

Salazar went through a simulated game on Monday with no issues, clearing the way for him to return to official game action. It's unclear how many rehab outings he'll need, but the Indians figure to proceed cautiously with him. Salazar had been demoted to the bullpen prior to being placed on the DL with a sore shoulder.

Andrew Cashner (oblique) will rejoin the Rangers' rotation Thursday in Cleveland.

The club will then start Austin Bibens-Dirkx or Nick Martinez on Friday. Cashner will have missed two weeks of action with a strained left oblique. He'll return to a 3.50 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 33/31 K/BB ratio across 69 1/3 innings.
Jun 27 - 5:01 PM

Collin McHugh (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi on Friday.

McHugh has been out all season with a posterior impingement in his right elbow but he made nice progress lately. The hope is that he'll be an option for the Astros' rotation just after the All-Star break.
Jun 27 - 4:54 PM

Jed Lowrie (knee) is back in the Athletics' lineup Tuesday.

Lowrie missed the last two games after tweaking his right knee. He's at second base and hitting third against Mike Fiers and the Astros.
