Tyler Glasnow left his start Saturday against the Phillies with an apparent injury.

Glasnow had hit two Phillies batters and gave up a run in both the first and second. He exited with zero outs in the top of the fourth. This was the 22-year-old top prospect's second start in the major leagues.

Julio Teheran (lat) performed well in strength tests Saturday.

The hope is that Teheran -- a possible trade chip for the rebuilding Braves -- won't have to miss a rotation turn. He left his start Friday against the Rockies because of a minor lat strain. Look for a decision on Monday or Tuesday, after he throws a bullpen session.

Joe Nathan will join the Cubs' bullpen Sunday.

Nathan walked three batters while recording only one out in his last appearance at Triple-A Iowa, but he had been very good before that outing and the Cubs feel the 41-year-old right-hander can offer an instant upgrade in middle relief. Nathan just finished rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery. He hasn't pitched in a major league game since April 6, 2015.

Nationals sent LHP Nick Lee outright to Double-A Harrisburg.

Lee was designated for assignment by the Nats earlier this week and passed through waivers unclaimed. He owns a 4.54 ERA in 35 2/3 innings this season in the minors.

Lucas Giolito will return to the majors to start Sunday at home against the Padres.

It's a nice matchup for a talented pitcher, but it will likely be a spot start with Joe Ross (shoulder) nearing his return. Giolito allowed four earned runs in 7 2/3 innings (two starts) three weeks ago with Washington. Those were his first two MLB outings. Maybe he can force the Nationals to keep him on the major league roster if he dominates on Sunday.

Cameron Rupp was pulled from Saturday's game against the Pirates after taking a pitch off his helmet.

The 91 mph fastball from Pirates rookie Tyler Glasnow caught Rupp right in the ear hole. He'll probably be put through MLB's concussion protocol. Look for an update Saturday night or Sunday morning. Rupp was 0-for-1 in the game, after going 2-for-4 with a homer, a walk, and three RBI on Friday night.

Juan Uribe (head) is out of the Indians' lineup Saturday.

Uribe took a pitch off his helmet on Friday night but thankfully avoided any type of serious injury. Indians manager Terry Francona said Uribe woke up with a minor headache but "dodged a big bullet."
Jul 23 - 5:12 PM

Craig Kimbrel (knee) could begin a minor league rehab assignment late next week.

Kimbrel is set to throw a bullpen session Sunday or Monday and he'll do the same on Wednesday. If that all goes well, the next step may be a minor league game. "That could be done at (Triple-A) Pawtucket," Red Sox manager John Farrell said Saturday. "We could be looking at an appearance at Pawtucket. We're not scripting it out past Wednesday, because we could go one of two ways here." Brad Ziegler is filling in at closer for the Red Sox with Koji Uehara (pectoral) possibly done for the year.
