Jordan Reed (toe) practiced for the first time at training camp Wednesday.

Cardinals DL Robert Nkemdiche will miss 2-3 weeks with a calf strain.

Nkemdiche went down in Tuesday's practice. Last year's first-rounder has had a strong first three preseason games and is expected to help fill the massive hole left by Calais Campbell this season. Limited by ankle issues and work ethic concerns as a rookie, Nkemdiche played just 82 snaps in 2016.

Jordan Matthews (chest) returned to individual drills on Wednesday.

Matthews has been out a little over a week after suffering a "chip fracture" in his sternum in his first practice with the team. He probably won't play in the third preseason game, but this puts Matthews well on track for Week 1.

49ers signed DT Sen'Derrick Marks, formerly of the Jaguars.

Marks, 30, was released by the Jaguars back in March. He hasn't been the same productive player since tearing his ACL in 2014, but Marks has experience in DC Robert Saleh's scheme after playing for Gus Bradley in Jacksonville.

Bears signed LT Charles Leno to a four-year, $38 million extension through 2021.

A 2014 seventh-round pick, Leno has started 29-of-32 games the past two seasons. He was Pro Football Focus' No. 53 tackle out of 76 qualifiers last season after checking in at 49-of-76 the previous year. The Bears see upside in the soon-to-be 26-year-old and keep in tact the left side of their line. At $9.5 million per year, Leno is the league's 14th-highest-paid left tackle.

New Dolphins MLB Rey Maualuga needs to lose weight before he practices with the team.

Maualuga is in the 260s, and the Dolphins want him to lose around 10 pounds. He has two-plus weeks to get ready for Week 1. The 30-year-old is expected to be the Dolphins' starting middle linebacker this season.

Chester Rogers has been sidelined since August 16 with a hamstring injury.

He pulled up lame while running a route in individual drills at practice last week. Rogers was viewed as the favorite for No. 3 duties early in camp, but it's hard to win that job when not on the field. Phillip Dorsett has been handling that role in the meantime. Kamar Aiken has had a quiet summer.

Jets released WR Marquess Wilson.

TE Brandon Barnes was signed to take his roster spot. Wilson was the most veteran receiver on the Jets' roster but always faced long odds to make the team.
