The Cincinnati Enquirer expects A.J. Green's turf-toe injury to hinder him for the rest of the season.
Listed as doubtful for Week 8, Green is not expected to play against the Ravens. "Green likely won't be 100 percent at any point during the year," wrote beat reporter Paul Dehner, who suggests Green's going-forward availability will come down to a pain-management issue. Coach Marvin Lewis' positive comments on Friday do bode well for Green's chances of returning in Week 9.
ESPN's Dan Graziano suggested on NFL Insiders Friday that rookie Charles Sims could play a big role down the stretch.
Eligible to return from I.R./recall in Week 9, Sims has resumed practicing after fracturing his ankle in August. "He may get a shot to get some serious carries in the second half (of the season)," were Graziano's words. Sims is worth stashing in 12- and 14-team leagues. Doug Martin has been ineffective for a sustained stretch, while Bobby Rainey has been prone to fumbles.
Shane Vereen is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Bears after missing Friday's practice with an illness.
Twitter freaked out when Vereen wasn't seen at Friday's practice, but players often miss practice with illnesses and are all systems go on game days. Check back Sunday for updates, but Vereen's outlook shouldn't have changed.
Jimmy Graham (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Week 8 against the Packers, but is expected to play.
He was limited in practice all week. Expect more usage for Graham against Green Bay after he was targeted just twice in last Sunday's loss to Detroit, and played fewer than 50 percent of New Orleans' offensive snaps. Rotoworld's Pat Daugherty ranks Graham as this week's No. 4 overall tight end play, behind only Julius Thomas (played Thursday), Rob Gronkowski, and Greg Olsen.
Travis Kelce (ribs) is listed as probable for Week 8.
Kelce was limited in practice all week, but will be in the lineup Sunday against the Rams. Despite enormous talent, Kansas City has kept a snap count on Kelce after he underwent microfracture surgery during his rookie year.
Ravens LG Kelechi Osemele (knee) is listed as probable for Week 8.
The Ravens are also getting back LT Eugene Monroe (knee) this week. OC Gary Kubiak's work has flown under the radar this year, but he deserves recognition for keeping Baltimore's offense rolling without Monroe, Osemele, and Dennis Pitta. Expect more Week 8 success against the Bengals' collapsing defense.
Cardinals DE Calais Campbell (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 8.
He was limited in practice all week. Campbell's initial return timetable was 3-4 weeks, but he's progressed ahead of schedule. We suspect Campbell would play a limited role against the Eagles if he's activate for the game.
Charles Clay (knee) is listed as probable for Week 8.
Clay would be a quality TE1 streamer Sunday against Jacksonville.
