Faria surrendered three runs in 5 1/3 innings and took a loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

He allowed six hits and two walks while fanning three in the sub-par outing. The 24-year-old is having a very solid rookie year but couldn't get the job done tonight. He falls to 5-4 with a 3.32 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. His 77/29 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 78 2/3 innings bodes well for his future. He has a two-start week coming up with a rematch versus the Blue Jays followed by the Cardinals.

Aníbal Sanchez left Wednesday's game against the Rangers with left hamstring tightness.

He lasted just 47 pitches, allowing five hits and four runs over 2 1/3 innings of lackluster work. The severity of his injury is unknown. Sanchez probably won't be missed if he lands on the disabled list. He's compiled a miserable 6.95 ERA over 22 appearances including 11 starts this season.

Orioles optioned OF Joey Rickard to Triple-A Norfolk.

The Orioles had to clear a spot for Rule 5 pick Anthony Santander, who is back after missing most of the season with a strained forearm. Rickard had been platooning with Seth Smith in right field. The 26-year-old should be back when rosters expand in September, if not sooner.

Orioles activated OF Anthony Santander from the 60-day disabled list.

The Rule 5 pick is finally ready to make his big league debut after going down with a strained forearm in spring training. Santander impressed during his rehab assignment, hitting a robust .382 with five homers and 14 RBI between 16 games for High-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie. Joey Rickard was sent down in the corresponding move.

Ryan Merritt will be called up as the 26th man for Thursday's doubleheader against the Twins.

He'll go against Twins right-hander Jose Berrios in the nightcap. Mike Clevinger is being skipped in the rotation, though he'll be available out of the bullpen on Thursday. This will be Merritt's second start of the year after scattering seven hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings in a no-decision on June 17. That start was also against Minnesota.

Wednesday's game between the Indians and Twins has been postponed due to rain.

It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Thursday with Game 1 beginning at 1:10 ET with Game 2 getting underway at 7:10 ET. Kyle Gibson will oppose Carlos Carrasco in the opener with Jose Berrios and Ryan Merritt facing off in the nightcap.

Freddy Galvis doubled Wednesday in the Phillies’ 3-0 loss to San Diego.

The sixth-inning double was his only hit of the afternoon. It was also one of just three Phillies hits against Clayton Richard, who went the distance for his third career shutout. The 27-year-old has hit safely in five of his last six games, batting .280 (7-for-25) during that span.

Wil Myers racked up three steals Wednesday in the Padres’ win over the Phillies.

He reached base four times for the Friars, collecting a single, a double and two walks. Myers accomplished an incredibly rare feat in the fourth inning when he singled, stole second, stole third and later came home on a double steal. Myers hasn’t hit for a high average this year (.240) but his speed/power combo still makes him a valuable fantasy contributor.
