Ryan Madson loaded the bases with one out but escaped the jam unscathed on Saturday, earning his eighth save of the season against the Astros.

Madson walked two of the first three batters he faced, and a single by Colby Rasmus loaded the bases with Evan Gattis stepping to the dish. Madson regrouped to get Gattis to ground into a double play, ending the game and preserving the Athletics' 2-0 win. The right-hander has been terrific this season, owning a 1.42 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 10/3 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings.

Billy Burns hit a two-run single in the second inning to lead the A's past the Astros on Saturday.

The A's managed just five hits, but his single with the bases loaded ended up being enough for the home side. Burns has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games to raise his line to .278/.321/.367. He's also doing his stolen base thing, racking up seven steals through the month of April.
Apr 30 - 6:40 PM

Avisail Garcia (hamstring) is not in the White Sox lineup Saturday against the Orioles.

He's not expected to play on Sunday either. The White Sox are off on Monday, which means the earliest we'd see him is Tuesday. Garcia tweaked his hamstring in Friday night's loss. "It’s a little tight," said manager Robin Ventura. "I don’t think it’s a DL situation there but he definitely did something going down the line there." Jerry Sands will DH and bat seventh Saturday with Garcia sidelined.
Apr 30 - 6:39 PM

Chris Devenski allowed two runs over five innings in a loss to the A's on Saturday.

Making a spot start, the right-hander gave up five hits and three walks while striking out four. He had been stellar coming out of the Astros' pen prior to Saturday's start, owning a 0.66 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 12/1 K/BB ratio over 13 2/3 relief innings. He'll return to being a crack member of the Astros bullpen.
Apr 30 - 6:39 PM

Josh Phegley went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Saturday's win over the Astros.

Phegley has been deployed sparingly thus far, appearing in eight games behind the dish, but he's made the most of his playing time. The 28-year-old has hits in seven of his eight games to date, batting .360/.407/.440 overall. His hot start at the plate could earn him some more starts moving forward.

Jon Moscot (shoulder) said he felt "all right" after throwing on Saturday.

It's not a ringing endorsement but for now, Moscot is still expected to make his scheduled start Tuesday against the Giants. Moscot has been dealing with soreness related to scar tissue in his left (non-throwing) shoulder. It's been a rough month for Reds starting pitchers as Raisel Iglesias (shoulder) and Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) are also battling injuries.
Apr 30 - 6:32 PM

Anthony DeSclafani (oblique) felt discomfort in his side during Friday's rehab start for Low-A Dayton.

He reported feeling a "sensation" in his injured oblique after throwing 77 pitches over five innings. "We’re really doing everything we can to avoid a setback," said manager Bryan Price. "He was good until the last inning or so, and then it was an issue." DeSclafani was expected to join the Reds for his next start but that seems unlikely now.
Apr 30 - 6:24 PM

Raisel Iglesias is in danger of missing Sunday's start against the Pirates with a right shoulder injury.

Iglesias said he felt a "pinch" on Friday and was examined by team doctors. This could be a recurrence of the shoulder fatigue that plagued him late last season. Louisville right-hander Tim Adleman was scratched from his scheduled start Saturday in case the Reds need him to fill in on Sunday. Iglesias' first five starts have yielded mixed results. His 3.49 ERA is impressive but opponents are hitting .296 against him with four homers in 115 at-bats. Fantasy owners should prepare to be without him on Sunday.
