Twins recalled LHP Kris Johnson from Triple-A Rochester.

He'll make the start on Friday in Colorado. While it's obviously not an ideal setting to rejoin the rotation, Johnson should stick around as long as Ricky Nolasco (elbow) is on the shelf. He's put up a 2.75 ERA over 16 Triple-A start this season.

Twins optioned RHP Yohan Pino to Triple-A Rochester.

Pino struggled initially with the Twins but has rebounded the last two times out, yielding just two runs in 11 innings. He seems likely to rejoin the rotation after the All-Star break.
Jul 11 - 8:32 AM

Carlos Torres threw a scoreless frame in his return to action Thursday.

Torres was unavailable for a few days due to a bruised hand, but it should no longer be an issue. The right-hander has pitched well out of the Mets' bullpen this season, putting up a 2.93 while striking out over a batter per inning.
Jul 11 - 4:41 AM

Kendrys Morales enjoyed his return to Seattle, going 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI to finish off a big series in Thursday's 4-2 victory.

The veteran's two-run fifth inning double proved to be the difference. Morales entered this series batting just .216, but he hit safely in all four games, going 5-for-15 (.333) with three doubles and five RBI. His slash line is getting better by the day, though it still looks gruesome at .231/.252/.325.
Jul 11 - 1:36 AM

Robinson Cano finished 3-for-5 in Thursday's 4-2 loss versus the Twins.

The big-money import limped through a sluggish start to the season, but has been dynamite since May. Cano's .327 batting average ranks No. 4 in the American League, and his .387 OBP is 30 points above his career mark. The second baseman is on pace for 92 RBI and 83 runs. He's hit only six homers, however.

Sam Fuld - OF - Twins

Sam Fuld reached base three times for the third consecutive game on Thursday against Seattle.

He finished 1-for-2 with two walks, a steal and a run scored. Fuld doesn't want to leave Seattle. He went 5-for-10 (.500) with four walks, a homer, three steals, two RBI and three runs scored as the Twins took three of four. If you need a center fielder in your AL-only league, Fuld is probably your best free agent bet at the moment. He won't keep raking like this -- he's hit safely in nine of 10 -- but Fuld will draw the occasional walk and steal bases as long as he's in the lineup.
Jul 11 - 1:27 AM

Yohan Pino surrendered just one run over five innings to earn his first MLB victory over the Mariners on Thursday.

He allowed seven hits and two walks while notching four strikeouts. Pino is expected to be demoted to make room for Friday starter Kris Johnson, but he might have done enough in his past two starts to book a reservation in the rotation to begin the second half. Pino put up an ugly 6.32 ERA in his first three outings, but yielded just two runs in 11 innings over his last two. Pino is 1-2 with a 4.50 ERA and 1.31 WHIP overall.
Jul 11 - 1:26 AM

Hanley Ramirez singled twice over three at-bats in Thursday's win over the Padres.

He also swiped a base and scored a run. Han-Ram went just 1-for-11 in the opening series against Arizona in Australia back in March, but he's been rock solid since then, posting a .900 OPS in April, .806 OPS in May, .858 OPS in June and .830 OPS this month coming into play today. Now batting .275, Ramirez is on pace for 19 homers, 83 RBI, 78 runs and 21 steals.
