Matt Dominguez smacked a grand slam in Tuesday's win over the Brewers.
Dominguez lofted a Tom Gorzelanny pitch high into the air and ultimately into the Crawford Boxes in the seventh inning. He also added a single and a sacrifice fly. Dominguez is batting only .236 this season, but he now has 10 homers and 40 RBI, numbers much better than expected from the slick fielder.
Michael Young went 3-for-4 with three doubles in the Phillies' win over the Nationals on Tuesday.
Young doubled in a run and scored in the Phillies' decisive three-run sixth inning, his second of the night against Nationals starter Ross Detwiler. The 36-year-old is hitting .288/.356/.390 this season.
Mets recalled OF Andrew Brown from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Brown has three hits, including a homer, in 15 at-bats this season for the Mets. He's mashed to the tune of a .349/.435/.664 in 2013 at Triple-A and should see some starts against lefties.
Mets designated OF Collin Cowgill for assignment.
Cowgill had some chances with the Mets but wound up batting just .180. He's had success in the minors, though, and could draw some interest on waivers.
Rockies acquired RHP Collin McHugh from the Mets in exchange for OF Eric Young.
McHugh will be assigned to Double-A Tulsa. The 26-year-old had a 10.29 ERA in seven innings with the Mets this year.
Jonathan Papelbon earned his 14th save of the season by working a scoreless ninth against the Nationals on Tuesday.
After blowing his first save of the year his last time out, Papelbon rebounded to convert his next opportunity with relative ease. Papelbon's name has been thrown around as someone who might draw interest at the trade deadline, and he's doing his part, owning a 1.69 ERA and 0.71 WHIP through 26 2/3 innings.
Ross Detwiler allowed four runs over six innings in a loss to the Phillies on Tuesday.
The start was just Detwiler's second since returning from the disabled list, and he's yet to record a win since returning. He was decent until faltering in his last inning, allowing three runs and four hits in the sixth. It was otherwise a positive start for the southpaw. He'll continue to round into form when he faces the Rockies on Sunday.
Mets acquired OF Eric Young Jr. from the Rockies in exchange for RHP Collin McHugh.
Young is batting just .242/.290/.352 this season, but he's a good fit for the outfielder-needy Mets. The speedster should receive a good amount of playing time in the outfield and makes for a nice cheap speed pick-up in deeper formats.
