Athletics optioned RHP Andrew Triggs to Triple-A Nashville.
Triggs was with the club just for a day as an extra bullpen arm, and is being sent back down to make room for Saturday's starter, Jesse Hahn. He'll continue to serve as bullpen depth at Triple-A and should be back with the big league club before long.
Athletics recalled RHP Jesse Hahn from Triple-A Nashville.
Hahn will make his season debut on Saturday against the Astros. As long as he pitches well, he has a chance to stick for awhile given all of the injuries experienced in the A's rotation.
Stephen Vogt is not in the Athletics starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Astros.
Being a day game after a night game, Vogt will take a seat and allow Josh Phegley to work behind the plate. Phegley will bat eighth against opposing right-hander Chris Devenski on Saturday.
Joe Panik (groin) is not in the Giants starting lineup for Saturday afternoon's contest against the Mets.
Panik suffered a minor groin injury during the ninth inning of Friday's game and will be held out on on Saturday as a precautionary measure. Kelby Tomlinson will start in his place and bat eight against opposing right-hander Jacob deGrom.
Emilio Bonifacio is expected to rejoin the Braves on Monday.
With the rain out on Saturday, the Braves are afforded the luxury of skipping the fifth starter spot in their rotation which could prompt them to return to a 12-man pitching staff and carry Bonifacio in a utility role at least for a few days.
John Lackey will start for the Cubs on Sunday against the Braves.
He had his scheduled start postponed on Saturday due to inclement weather. Jason Hammel will follow on Monday, with Jake Arrieta, Kyle Hendricks and Jon Lester to follow for the Cubbies.
Julio Teheran will start for the Braves on Sunday after Saturday's game against the Cubs was postponed due to rain.
The Braves have yet to announce what they will do with Monday's scheduled starter as they could Matt Wisler (who was scheduled to pitch Sunday), or stick with Mike Foltynewicz who was expected to be recalled to start on Monday in place of Bud Norris.
James McCann (ankle) is scheduled to play two more minor league rehab games at Triple-A Toledo before rejoining the Tigers on Tuesday.
Jarrod Saltalamacchia has been swinging an extremely hot bat in his absence, but McCann is the club's starting catcher and will return to handle the bulk of the work behind the dish in Detroit.
