Phillies placed RHP Zach Eflin on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to August 20, with a right shoulder strain.

Eflin suffered the injury during Friday's start and will now get some extended rest. His exit was originally considered precautionary, so perhaps he'll be ready to return around the beginning of September.

Phillies recalled RHP Nick Pivetta from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Pivetta was sent down less than a week ago, but he's back to serve as the 26th man for Tuesday's doubleheader against the Marlins. He's due to start the second game. Pivetta has a 6.25 ERA and 99/40 K/BB ratio in 93 2/3 innings over 18 starts this season.

The Mets are expected to recall right-hander Kevin McGowan from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

McGowan was up with the Mets for a few days earlier this month, but he didn't make an appearance. The 25-year-old has a 4.06 ERA and 55/24 K/BB ratio over 62 innings in Triple-A this year.

Yankees activated RHP Masahiro Tanaka from the 10-day disabled list.

Tanaka went down a week and a half ago with shoulder inflammation, but he'll make his return Tuesday against the Tigers. The hope is that the extra rest will get him back on track for the stretch run. Tanaka uncharacteristically walked five batters over four innings in his most recent start back on August 9.

Marlins recalled RHP Severino Gonzalez from Triple-A New Orleans.

He'll serve as the 26th man in Tuesday's doubleheader against the Phillies. Gonzalez has been in Triple-A all year while posting a 4.28 ERA over five starts and 26 relief appearances.

Marlins designated RHP Javy Guerra for assignment.

The move clears a spot for Jarlin Garcia's return from the disabled list. Guerra was called up earlier this month and allowed four runs on four hits (including two homers) and five walks over 5 2/3 innings.

Marlins activated LHP Jarlin Garcia from the 10-day disabled list.

Garcia missed the minimum after going down with a left biceps strain earlier this month. He returns to a quality 3.43 ERA and 29/9 K/BB ratio in 39 1/3 innings.

Tyler Glasnow is not expected to be called up on Tuesday.

Jameson Taillon ran out to the bullpen during Monday's extra-inning loss to the Dodgers, but he didn't end up being used. Perhaps Glasnow would have gotten the call if Taillon ended up pitching, but the Pirates will gain an extra year of service time if they wait a few more days before calling him up. Glasnow owns a ridiculous 1.79 ERA and 113/27 K/BB ratio over 75 1/3 innings since his demotion to Triple-A in June. He's worth a stash for the stretch run in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
