Cubs optioned RHP Felix Pena to Triple-A Iowa.

The move clears the way for Kyle Hendricks' return from the disabled list. Pena owns a 4.50 ERA over 10 appearances with the Cubs this season.

Addison Russell is not in Monday's lineup against the White Sox.

It sounds like a routine day off. Javier Baez will start at shortstop while Ben Zobrist will play second base.

Neil Walker (hamstring) went 1-for-4 with a single and a strikeout Sunday in his second minor league rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas.

Walker went 2-for-7 during his brief rehab stint and appears on track to be activated when the Mets open a series in San Diego on Monday. The veteran second baseman has been sidelined since mid-June with a partial tear of his left hamstring.

Miguel Cabrera (collarbone) went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in his return to the lineup Sunday against the Twins.

Cabrera didn't play Saturday after leaving Friday's game with a bruised collarbone. The 34-year-old has struggled coming out of the All-Star break and owns an uncharacteristic .256/.346/.422 batting line with 12 homers and 47 RBI over 83 games this season.

J.D. Martinez (hand) drew a walk as a pinch-hitter Sunday against the Nationals.

It was his first appearance in a game since being hit in the left hand with a pitch in his first game with the Diamondbacks last Wednesday. It seems like he's trending in the right direction.

Chad Bettis (cancer) allowed three runs over 2 2/3 innings Sunday in his latest minor league rehab start with Triple-A Albuquerque.

Bettis, who previously made two starts with Double-A Hartford, allowed six hits and two walks while striking out four. He was pulled after throwing 62 pitches. The results weren't the best, but Bettis is feeling good as he continues his comeback from testicular cancer. "Physically, I felt good and strong. I felt like I could've thrown a lot more," Bettis said after Sunday's outing. "But I worked on what I need to. I felt like I was able to execute some of the pitches that I really wanted to, but at the same time, it seemed like there's some stuff to work on." Bettis is slated to throw 75-80 pitches in his next rehab start on Friday before being reevaluated. He should join the Rockies' rotation at some point in August.

Neil Ramirez has elected to become a free agent.

Ramirez cleared waivers after being designated for assignment by the Mets late last week. The 28-year-old owns a rough 7.18 ERA over 29 appearances in the majors this season between the Giants and Mets. He'll try to find a new opportunity elsewhere.

Red Sox transferred LHP Robbie Ross to the 60-day disabled list.

Nothing has changed in the recovery for the left-hander, this was done merely as a procedural move to free up a roster spot for the promotion of Rafael Devers on Monday.
