Daniel Murphy went 4-for-5 with a double, an RBI single, and a two-run home run in Monday's victory versus the Padres.

Murphy started the scoring early with an RBI single in the first inning. He added a two-run home run in the fifth, starting a four-run rally. Murphy has been up-and-down offensively this year, but is currently hitting .286/.337/.418 with four home runs and 29 RBI.

Jacob deGrom was excellent in a winning effort on Monday, shutting the Padres out over eight innings of work.

deGrom was flirting with a perfect game until Clint Barmes singled to right field to lead off the sixth inning. It was one of only two hits the right-hander gave up on the evening. He also struck out eight without issuing a walk. A few mediocre outings earlier in the season had deGrom's ERA as high as 3.46, but it's all the way down to 2.41 now along with a terrific 0.99 WHIP and a 71/13 K/BB ratio in 71 innings. He'll try to win his fourth straight decision in a weekend road start against the Diamondbacks.
Jun 2 - 12:39 AM

Archie Bradley struggled and took the loss, allowing five runs in five innings as the Diamondbacks fell 8-1 to the Braves on Monday.

The Braves rallied against Bradley in the second inning, using four singles, a double, and a walk to plate three runs. They scored two more in the fifth inning on a Freddie Freeman home run. Bradley gave up eight hits and walked three while striking out one overall on the evening. The rookie has struggled in four starts after he was hit with a line drive. He's carrying a 5.80 ERA on the year with a 1.63 WHIP and a 23/22 K/BB ratio in 35 2/3 innings. Bradley will look for better results his next time out at home against the Mets.

Alex Wood earned the win with a terrific outing on Monday against the Diamondbacks, allowing only one run in eight innings.

The only run came in on an Ender Inciarte sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Wood scattered seven hits without issuing a walk while striking out four. The lefty is on a hot streak, posting a 1.88 ERA over his last four starts. On the year, he's carrying a 3.19 ERA with a 1.42 WHIP and a 42/18 K/BB ratio in 62 innings. Wood will look to win in his fourth consecutive start when he faces the Pirates at home next.

Andrelton Simmons went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI single in Monday's win against the Diamondbacks.

Simmons knocked in the Braves' third run with a single in the third inning. He doubled and scored on Freddie Freeman's home run in the fifth. Simmons has hit safely in 10 consecutive games, bringing his triple-slash line up to .277/.329/.405 with three home runs and 21 RBI.

Freddie Freeman homered and drove in three runs in a 3-for-5 effort as the Braves defeated the Diamondbacks on Monday.

Freeman pushed the Braves' lead to 5-0 in the fifth inning with a two-run home run. He added an RBI single in the sixth. The first baseman has predictably solid numbers, batting .297/.363/.503 with eight home runs and 29 RBI on the year.

Tuffy Gosewisch has been diagnosed with a full tear of his left ACL.

Gosewisch will undergo season-ending surgery soon. It's a real bummer for a 31-year-old who was getting his first shot at a starting job in the big leagues. Jarrod Saltalamacchia is the Diamondbacks' new starting catcher.
Jun 2 - 12:22 AM

Clayton Kershaw got the win after limiting the Rockies to two runs in seven innings as the Dodgers skated to an 11-4 win on Monday.

Kershaw also helped himself at the plate, going 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored. On the pitching side of things, he scattered five hits and a walk while striking out seven. Both runs came in the fourth inning on a Nolan Arenado home run. 2015 hasn't been kind to the three-time Cy Young Award winner, but he's pitched better as of late and now owns a 3.73 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP, and a 90/17 K/BB ratio over 72 1/3 innings. Kershaw will toe the rubber against the Cardinals at home next.
