Trevor Plouffe went 3-for-5 with a double, triple and three runs scored in Sunday's win over the Rockies.

The Twins banged out 18 hits on the day, and Plouffe had three of the team's 13 runs scored. He's hitting .245/.317/.409 on the season, and he'll be nothing more than an AL-only option in the second half.
Jul 13 - 10:39 PM

Nolan Arenado went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI in a loss to the Twins on Sunday.

Arenado had five hits in 34 at-bats in nine games since returning from the disabled list prior to Sunday's game, but Sunday he looked more like the third baseman who hit .305/.333/.489 before his injury. It was a good ending to the first half, and now healthy, Arenado should enjoy similar success in the season's second half.
Jul 13 - 10:28 PM

Phil Hughes allowed 10 hits and five runs over five innings but took the win against the Rockies on Sunday.

Hughes was staked to a five-run lead, but he very nearly didn't hang on to get his 10th win. The right-hander did manage to strike out six while not walking a batter. It's a good end to a good first half for Hughes, who goes into the break with a 3.92 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 108/11 K/BB ratio over 121 2/3 innings. He seems to have turned a corner this year, and his good first half should carry over into the second.
Jul 13 - 10:20 PM

Brett Anderson allowed six runs -- five earned -- on 10 hits over five innings against the Twins in his return from the disabled list on Sunday.

Anderson got a rude greeting from the Twins in his return, as they got to him for five runs before the first inning ended. He settled down after that disastrous inning, allowing only an unearned run over his next four innings, but the damage was already done. The lefty was pretty good in Oakland but he'll likely have his struggles pitching at Coors Field in the second half.
Jul 13 - 10:11 PM

Buster Posey hit one of the Giants' two grand slams on the day, propelling the Giants to an 8-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

The homer was Posey's 10th of the season and his first since June 14. The catcher is having a down year by his standards, batting .275/.331/.422 with 46 RBI. He's particularly struggled in July, so perhaps the All-Star break comes at a good time for the 27-year-old.
Jul 13 - 9:57 PM

Martin Prado went 3-for-4 with an RBI in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Prado has hits in 11 of 12 July games to raise his line to .275/.321/.370. The run production hasn't followed, unfortunately -- he's scored four runs in July, and Sunday's RBI was just his second this month.
Jul 13 - 9:51 PM

Pablo Sandoval went 3-for-4 with a run scored in a win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Sandoval had three singles and also walked in the game, reaching base four times. He's 10-for-24 in his last six games heading into the break. On the year, the third baseman is batting .272/.323/.428 with 11 home runs. His numbers are still down from a miserable April, and they should only get better in the second half.
Jul 13 - 9:44 PM

Nick Ahmed went 2-for-4 with two runs scored in Sunday's loss to the Giants.

Ahmed has struggled at the dish since his promotion, as he had four hits in 22 at-bats coming into the game. The runs scored were his first in his career. The 24-year-old may have a future in the big leagues, but he'll likely be returned to Triple-A Reno when Chris Owings returns from injury.
