Hyun-soo Kim made his fourth straight start in left field Saturday.

Rule 5 pick Joey Rickard has struggled of late, which has finally led to Kim getting an extended look. The 28-year-old has been terrific when given a chance this season, batting .386/.460/.455 across 50 plate appearances. He should continue to see regular at-bats if he keeps producing. "I just think he kind of brings some things we kind of need, some selectivity and kind of slow things down here and there," Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. "First of all, the guy’s going to have to get below .400 before you take him out. I’m not stupid. I don’t care how many at-bats or what kind of hits they are. At some point you go, ‘OK, let’s see.’ Like I told you, nobody really knows who he is or how good he can be."

Christian Yelich (back) struck out as a pinch-hitter in Saturday's loss to the Braves.

Yelich hasn't started in over a week due to back spasms, although he has made a couple pinch-hitting appearances. It's possible he'll be back in the lineup Sunday.

Matt Adams (back) knocked a pinch-hit, two-run double in Saturday's win over the Nationals.

Adams hasn't started the last couple days due to a minor back issue, but he's fine. He could be in the lineup Sunday.

Cardinals signed C Michael McKenry to a minor league contract.

McKenry had opted out of his minor league deal with the Rangers earlier this month. He's a career .239/.319/.407 hitter at the major league level.

Angels activated INF Cliff Pennington from the 15-day disabled list.

He missed the minimum amount of time with a strained hamstring. Pennington will play pretty regularly until Andrelton Simmons (thumb) returns.

Padres optioned LHP Keith Hessler to Triple-A El Paso.

Hessler has allowed 10 runs over six relief innings for the D'Backs and Padres this season. He should get another shot at some point.

Padres activated LHP Matt Thornton from the 15-day disabled list.

Thornton had been out all season while rebounding from Achilles tendinitis. The veteran left-hander will work in a setup role for the Padres.

Eduardo Nunez continued his dream season in Saturday’s 6-5 win over the Mariners, pounding out four hits, including his fifth homer of the year.

Nunez is now hitting .333/.363/.510 in one of the more unexpected performances of the year. He’s bounced around from third base to shortstop to second base defensively, which has helped his playing time remain high. Although his .366 BABIP suggests that his batting average should drop, he has an outside chance to hit double-digit homers and steal 20-plus bases. No shortstop did that in 2015.
