Cowboys WLB Sean Lee has restructured his contract.
Lee will convert $2 million of his salary into a bonus. It doesn’t save Dallas money this year, but is a nice reward after Lee bounced back last season. Lee can also earn $2 million in incentives.
Coach Pete Carroll said "there's no question" Thomas Rawls (ankle) will play in the season opener.
It's the second time Carroll has confirmed his Week 1 status. Rawls has been practicing without limitations the last couple weeks, but won't play in the preseason finale. He's locked in as Seattle's early-down starter.
Coach Pete Carroll said Jimmy Graham's (knee) Week 1 status will be determined late next week.
"Jimmy has been practicing full-go," Carroll said. "We’ll just keep taking it day-to-day." This conflicts with an earlier report that Graham has been limited to individual drills in practice. Graham is going to miss the entire preseason, but he's starting to trend in the right direction. He remains questionable for Week 1.
Raiders DE Mario Edwards (hip) is a candidate to be the team's injured reserve-designated for return player.
Edwards has been sidelined since Oakland's preseason opener. He was given a 4-6 week timetable, but hasn't progressed as expected. Because Edwards participated in the early portion of training camp, he is not eligible to be placed on reserve/PUP. The injured reserve-designated for return designation would cost Edwards at least the first six games of the season.
Ameer Abdullah expects to get the majority of carries this season.
"Obviously, all of us wants to get carries," he said. "I’m hoping and expecting to get the bulk." Abdullah is the clear starter with Joique Bell gone, but is going to lose snaps to Theo Riddick in all passing situations. Zach Zenner and Dwayne Washington are candidates to cut into Abdullah's short-yardage work.
Vikings placed QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Bridgewater suffered a completely torn ACL, dislocated knee, and other structural damage at Tuesday's practice. He's facing a lengthy rehab and isn't a lock to be ready for Week 1 next season. Shaun Hill will replace Bridgewater, but the Vikings could look outside the organization for another quarterback.
The Cowboys are expected to restructure CB Orlando Scandrick's contract.
Scandrick will convert $4 million of his salary into a bonus. The move should create $3M in cap space that Dallas can use toward a backup quarterback. Scandrick is signed through 2019.
Bills claimed C Patrick Lewis off waivers from the Seahawks.
Lewis was a surprise cut after starting nine games last year. He adds veteran depth to Buffalo's interior line. Lewis should push for the backup center job.
