Jedd Gyorko went 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored in a win over the Pirates on Thursday.

Gyorko took Pirates starter Jameson Taillon deep in the second inning for a solo shot, his 16th dinger of the year. He added a pair of singles for a rare thre-hit night, something he's done just twice since June 21. He's having a fine year all around after settling in as the team's starter at the hot corner, batting .273/.342/.464 with his 16 homers, 57 RBI, 46 runs scored and six steals.

Wil Myers went 2-for-3 with a double in Thursday's loss to the Nationals.

Myers had one of just three extra-base hits by the Padres in the narrow 2-1 defeat. He has collected four hits in his last five at-bats, with two of those knocks going for extra bases. On a wider scale, the 26-year-old is slashing .242/.328/.467 with 24 homers, 59 RBI and 14 steals over the course of 116 games played. He is currently four home runs shy of tying the career-best 28 dingers he socked a year ago.

Jameson Taillon allowed four runs on seven hits over five innings in a no-decision Thursday against the Cardinals.

Taillon mixed moments of brilliance -- he struck out seven in his five innings -- with frustration -- he also walked three along with giving up seven hits. He wasn't overly dominant, but rain also shortened what could have been a longer outing for the 25-year-old. Instead, he settled for a no-decision to leave his record at 7-5 through 18 starts. Taillon will carry a 4.64 ERA and 1.51 WHIP into a matchup with the NL-leading Dodgers on Tuesday.

Manuel Margot went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Thursday's loss to the Nationals.

Margot hit his 14th double of the season in this one. Overall, the outfielder owns a .270/.309/.439 batting line with 12 homers and 35 RBI in 87 games played.

Adam Wainwright allowed five runs on seven hits over three innings Thursday against the Pirates.

Wainwright just had nothing, struggling to touch high-80s with his fastball, and the Bucs teed off accordingly. He's now recorded just one strikeout in his last three starts combined, and he hasn't fanned more than three in a single start since July 8. The warning signs are everywhere. In 23 starts overall, the 35-year-old is 12-5 with a 5.12 ERA and 1.49 WHIP. He'll look for some more encouraging signs Wednesday against the Padres.
Aug 18 - 1:19 AM

Edwin Jackson surrendered one run on eight hits over seven innings in Thursday's win over the Padres.

Jackson has been surprisingly reliable in seven starts this season, having allowed two or fewer runs in five of them. In Thursday's contest, the well-traveled veteran kept the scoreboard clean outside of a third-inning RBI single by Jose Pirela. He struck out four and walked one over his seven innings of work. Jackson will bring a sharp 2.92 ERA and 1.11 WHIP into a road outing against the Astros next time he toes the rubber.
Aug 18 - 1:18 AM

Jhoulys Chacin was unable to find the plate in Thursday's loss to the Nationals, walking four while allowing one run over five innings.

Chacin surrendered just three hits and one run -- on an Adam Lind sacrifice fly in the third inning -- but control issues forced him to an early exit after five innings. He threw just 63 of his 104 pitches for strikes. Chacin has walked four batters in each of his last two starts and has handed out at least three free passes in six of his last 10 outings. He will carry a 3.98 ERA and 1.28 WHIP into a road showdown with the Cardinals next time he toes the rubber.
Aug 18 - 1:17 AM

Jarrett Parker went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBI in Thursday's win over the Phillies.

Parker gave the Giants a 4-1 lead with his two-run double off Aaron Nola in the fifth inning. With his pair of two-baggers, he has now collected seven doubles in 22 games played this season. He is working to a .268/.307/.437 triple slash in that space.
