Giovanny Urshela smacked a two-run home run in the 12th inning to break a scoreless tie, allowing the Indians to beat the Angels on Tuesday.

Urshela finished 3-for-5 with a double on the night. The Indians were able to pound out 10 hits and draw three walks, but couldn't capitalize until the 12th. It was a welcome night for Urshela, as he had been held hitless since the fifth inning on July 30. He's batting .247/.283/.367 with four home runs and 12 RBI.

Jon Gray allowed three runs -- two earned -- over four innings in his major league debut on Tuesday.

Taking on the Mariners, Gray struck out four while giving up five hits and two walks. He didn't factor in the decision. The 23-year-old has huge upside but is pitching on a losing team that plays its home games in a hitter's ballpark. Gray will get a chance to pitch in a normal atmosphere when the Rockies travel to face the Mets on Monday.

Ryan Braun reached base four times Tuesday, going 2-for-2 with two walks and two runs scored as the Brewers downed the Padres 4-1.

Braun also stole his 16th base of the season in the game. The outfielder has four doubles in his last three games, and he's scored a run in each of his last five. Braun is now hitting .273/.345/.497 with 19 homers, 63 RBI and 63 runs scored overall.
Aug 5 - 1:32 AM

Francisco Rodriguez worked a perfect ninth inning against the Padres on Tuesday to earn his 24th save of the season.

Rodriguez stayed put at the trade deadline, and he was called on Tuesday for his first save chance since the deadline passed. He had no problem closing out the Padres, striking out one in the perfect inning. The right-hander now has a 1.42 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 43/9 K/BB ratio over 38 innings this year.
Aug 5 - 1:24 AM

Khris Davis had two RBI in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Davis had an RBI single in the third inning before hitting a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Davis has moved into a starting role with the departures of Carlos Gomez and Gerardo Parra, but the outfielder is hitting just .230/.318/.407 on the season.
Aug 5 - 1:19 AM

Jimmy Nelson allowed only an unearned run over 6 2/3 innings in Tuesday's win over the Padres.

Nelson gave up three hits and a walk while striking out four in the win. It was his third straight start without allowing an earned run, a stretch that spans 20 2/3 innings. Nelson moved to 9-9 with the win, his sixth in his last seven decisions, and the scoreless streak lowered his ERA to 3.57. Nelson will try to keep it going Sunday against the Cardinals.
Aug 5 - 1:13 AM

Andrew Cashner gave up just two runs over six innings but took the loss against the Brewers on Tuesday.

Cashner was actually fortunate to get out with just two runs allowed, as he yielded eight hits and walked four over his six innings of work. Cashner also struck out five in the outing. Even with the decent showing, the loss dropped Cashner to 4-11 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He's got a good shot at getting his fifth win Sunday against the Phillies.
Aug 5 - 1:09 AM

Marcus Semien went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Orioles.

Semien broke the game open in the sixth inning, hitting his three-run shot to left-center off of reliever Chaz Roe to send the Athletics' lead to 5-0. It's his second home run in four games, but he's been mediocre offensively overall, batting .245/.292/.382 with 10 home runs and 26 RBI.
