Buster Posey finished 2-for-5 with a pair of RBI in Monday's loss against Pittsburgh.

The Giants were drummed 10-3, but as usual Posey was his steady self at the plate. After a slow period at the plate by his standards, Posey has collected six RBI over the past seven outings. He'll look to keep it rolling in Tuesday's game against Jameson Taillon and the Bucs.

Matt Cain was hammered for six runs - two earned - and six hits with a walk and just one strikeout over four innings in a loss against the Pirates on Monday.

Cain managed to throw just 44 of his 72 pitches for strikes, slipping to 3-9. His defense didn't help him much in this one, as Eduardo Nunez committed an error on a ground ball to put Cain behind the 8-ball in the second inning. He never was able to recover. It's uncertain if and when he'll make another start.

Josh Bell posted a pair of singles, a double, a run scored and an RBI in Monday's game in San Francisco.

Bell has managed at least one RBI in each of his four games on the current western road trip, totaling seven. He is also hitting for high average on the trip, going 9-for-19 (.474) with two doubles, a triple, a homer and seven RBI.
Jul 25 - 5:38 AM

Andrew McCutchen belted a three-run home run off of San Francisco's Matt Cain in the second inning of Monday's game, and he finished with four RBI.

McCutchen got off to an awfully slow start this season, but he erupted for a .411 average, six homers and 23 RBI in June and he is showing no signs of slowing in July. He has knocked in 10 runs over his past six outings to give his fantasy owners what they expect.
Jul 25 - 5:35 AM

Jordy Mercer finished 3-for-5 with a three-run home run in Monday's game in San Francisco.

Mercer has managed two homers with five RBI in four games on the western road trip so far. The shortstop has reached double digits in homers for the third time in the past four seasons, and he needs just three more to set a new career high.
Jul 25 - 5:32 AM

Gerrit Cole allowed two earned runs, six hits and four walks with four strikeouts over six innings in a win in San Francisco on Monday.

Cole improved to 2-0 with a 2.52 ERA over four outings, all quality starts, with five walks and 26 strikeouts across 25 innings in the month of July. There were some rumblings about Cole potentially being dealt, but the Bucs quickly shot down those rumors. The talk obviously didn't bother Cole, as he is pitching his best ball of the season.
Jul 25 - 5:29 AM

Jose Pirela finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Monday's loss against the Mets.

Pirela has hit safely in 11 consecutive outings, hitting .319 (15-for-47) with five doubles, a triple and five RBI during the impressive stretch. He has raised his average from .289 to .298 just since July 9. While he isn't your prototypical leadoff hitter, posting very little in the steals department, he is hitting for a nice average and a little pop.
Jul 25 - 5:16 AM

Hunter Renfroe belted a pair of solo home runs in Monday's loss against the Mets.

It was Renfroe's third multi-homer game of his career, and the second this season. This might have been his most impressive game of the season, as one of Renfroe's homers was a 462-foot shot that landed on the roof of the Western Metal Supply Co. Building at Petco Park in left field. It was the longest homer in the majors in 2017 with an exit velocity of 110 mph.
