Kris Medlen (elbow) will throw a three-inning simulated game on Thursday.

Medlen threw his second two-inning sim game last Saturday. "It’s felt great," Medlen said. "The first time I threw there was a little soreness the next day." Once he's built up to five innings, the right-hander will begin a rehab assignment.

A.J. Griffin (elbow) allowed just one hit while striking out three over three scoreless frames in his first rehab start with High-A Stockton.

Griffin had to be shut down a bit after developing some shoulder soreness, but he's back on track now. Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, the right-hander figures to need a full 30 days on a rehab assignment, putting him on pace to rejoin the A's rotation in early July.

Mets activated RHP Dillon Gee from the 15-day disabled list.

He'll rejoin the rotation on Wednesday in San Diego as the Mets go to a six-man rotation. Gee holds a 3.86 ERA and 1.35 WHIP over five starts this season and has missed the last month with a strained groin.

Mets optioned INF Danny Muno to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Muno has one hit in 15 at-bats over a couple stints with the big club this season. He'll return to a .280/.354/.400 line at Las Vegas.

Brewers recalled 1B/OF Shane Peterson from Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Peterson has hit .320/.387/.523 with seven homers and 27 RBI at hitter-friendly Colorado Springs this season. He'll give the club some outfield depth with Khris Davis (knee) out.

Brewers optioned RHP Tyler Cravy to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Cravy held the Cardinals to one run over seven innings in his major league debut Tuesday, but the Brewers needed to add another outfielder. The righty certainly will receive consideration the next time the big club needs a starter.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox have acquired Alejandro De Aza from the Orioles.

There's no word yet on what the Orioles will be getting in return or how much of what's remaining on his $5 million contract they might be picking up. De Aza was designated for assignment by Baltimore last Friday after batting just .214/.277/.359 over 30 games. Boston certainly isn't an ideal landing spot for him given all the other outfield options that they have.

The Diamondbacks plan to ease Jarrod Saltalamacchia into everyday catcher duties.

They need him to serve as their regular catcher following Tuffy Gosewisch's (knee) season-ending injury, but Salty isn't completely familiar with the pitching staff yet. He'll share time behind the dish with Jordan Pacheco for now. "It'll almost be a day-on, day-off thing until we really feel like his legs are underneath them," manager Chip Hale said. Despite him being eased into starting duties, Salty's power makes him a worthy second catcher in mixed leagues.
