Dodgers designated RHP Sergio Santos for assignment.

Los Angeles needed to clear out a 40-man roster spot following the six-player Juan Uribe trade, and Santos was the odd man out. The 31-year-old right-hander had registered a 4.73 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, and 15/7 K/BB ratio in 13 1/3 innings this season for the Dodgers.

Jose Abreu went 3-for-5 with a triple and a two-run double as the White Sox beat the Blue Jays in 10 innings on Wednesday.

Abreu started the scoring, knocking in two with a double off of Marco Estrada in the third inning. He set up the White Sox to take the lead in the 10th inning with a leadoff triple. He then scored on an Adam LaRoche single. Abreu is batting .284/.346/.497 on the year with eight home runs and 29 RBI.

Andrew Miller shut the Royals down in order in the ninth inning, picking up his 14th save as the Yankees won 4-1 on Wednesday.

Miller got consecutive ground outs from Omar Infante and Paulo Orlando before getting Alcides Escobar to line out to end the contest. The lefty is still perfect in 14 save opportunities with a 0.84 ERA and a 34/9 K/BB ratio in 21 1/3 innings.
May 27 - 4:13 PM

Michael Pineda pitched well in a win on Wednesday, limiting the Royals to one run in 6 2/3 innings of work.

The only run came in the first inning on a Mike Moustakas solo home run. Pineda allowed only six hits total along with a walk and eight strikeouts. The right-hander moves to 6-2 on the year with a 3.36 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and a 67/5 K/BB ratio in 64 1/3 innings. Pineda will face his former team in the Mariners at Safeco Field in his next outing.
May 27 - 4:11 PM

Chris Young suffered his first loss of the season, yielding four runs in six innings versus the Yankees on Wednesday.

Young entered the start having allowed just two runs (one earned) in 22 2/3 innings as a starter. Home runs hurt him on Wednesday, allowing a solo shot to Brian McCann in the second inning and a three-run blast in the third to Alex Rodriguez. They accounted for two of seven hits on the afternoon along with two walks and seven strikeouts. Now 4-1 with a 1.55 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and a 30/11 K/BB ratio in 40 2/3 innings, Young will try to bounce back in a home start against the Indians.
May 27 - 4:08 PM

Mike Moustakas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a losing effort against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Moustakas gave the Royals an early 1-0 lead with a first-inning home run off of Michael Pineda. It's number five on the season for Moustakas, who maintains an excellent .329/.382/.494 batting line with 16 RBI.

Aaron Hicks hit his first homer of the year and walked Wednesday as the Twins topped the Red Sox 6-4.

Hicks didn't even have an RBI in 48 at-bats since being called up. The Twins have tried to make him more aggressive at the plate -- which explains why he also had just one walk in 13 games -- and he did jump all over a bad changeup from Rick Porcello today, delivering a two-run blast. Plus, now he has that second walk, too!

Mark Reynolds is starting at first base for the Cardinals on Wednesday night against the Diamondbacks.

He'll serve as the Cardinals' regular first baseman while Matt Adams recovers from a right quad strain -- an injury that could take up to a month to fully heal. Reynolds is a frustratingly inconsistent hitter, but he still has good power at age 31 and should have mixed-league fantasy value over the next three-plus weeks.
