Twins right-handed pitching prospect Jose Berrios allowed three hits, three walks, and five runs over five innings, striking out two batters in his debut with Double-A New Britain.

Two of the three hits were home runs, and the other was a two-run single, so Berrios' debut did not go as well as hoped. He still projects as a solid No. 3 pitcher, and is one of the few developmental bright spots for the Twins this year, due to injuries to top prospect Byron Buxton and Miguel Sano.

Brayan Pena (forearm) is in the Reds' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Cubs.

Pena missed a couple of games with minor soreness in his right forearm. The 32-year-old is playing first base and batting cleanup Thursday for the injury-riddled Reds.
Jul 10 - 10:08 AM

Brandon Phillips (thumb) is not in the Reds' starting lineup Thursday afternoon versus the Cubs.

Phillips suffered a sprained left thumb while attempting to make a diving play on defense Wednesday night. The second baseman looked to be in a great deal of pain as he was helped off the field and could be held out until after the All-Star break. Ramon Santiago is starting at second for the Reds on Thursday against Chicago.
Jul 10 - 10:01 AM

Mariners right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker will make two starts for Triple-A Tacoma, and then return to the Mariners after the All-Star break.

Walker will only miss one major league start due to the demotion, and will be on track to start against the weak-hitting Mets in Safeco. If you can stash him on your roster over the All-Star break, it could be worth doing so.

Billy Hamilton (hamstring) is not in the Reds' starting lineup on Thursday versus the Cubs.

Hamilton tweaked a lingering left hamstring injury in his final at-bat Wednesday night. The speedy center fielder expects to be good to go in a couple of days. Chris Heisey is playing center and leading off Thursday.

Astros outfield prospect Teoscar Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, and a sacrifice fly for High-A Lancaster on Wednesday.

Hernandez is hitting .293/.378/.562 with 25 doubles, eight triples, and 16 home runs for the season, while also stealing 27 bases. He has the raw power to have 15-plus home runs while hitting .280 and playing an above-average center field, but is unlikely to reach the major leagues until late-2016.
Jul 10 - 9:53 AM

Angels shortstop prospect Jose Rondon went 4-for-5 with two triples, a walk, and a stolen base for High-A Inland Empire on Wednesday.

Rondon is hitting .327/.363/.421 in the California League in 2014. His lack of power and below-average pitch recognition may prevent him from being more than a utility infielder, but he is an above-average defensive shortstop and can make consistent contact.
Jul 10 - 9:40 AM

Rockies left-handed pitching prospect Kyle Freeland threw two scoreless innings for rookie-level Grand Junction on Wednesday.

Freeland, the eighth overall pick in the 2014 draft, scattered three singles while striking out two batters. The University of Evansville product has frontline potential, but could be moved to the bullpen if he is unable to succeed as a starter with his limited fastball/slider combination.
