Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports reports that Anthony Swarzak has been traded to the Brewers.

No word yet on the return for the White Sox. Swarzak moved into the closer mix on the south side of Chicago last week when David Robertson and Tommy Kahnle were dealt to the Yankees and he earned his first career save on Monday afternoon against the Cubs. The 31-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.23 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 52/13 K/BB ratio in 48 1/3 innings this season. He is scheduled to become a free agent in three months.

Jarrod Dyson remains sidelined Tuesday with a hyperextended toe.

Dyson suffered the injury Saturday when he crashed into the center field wall at Safeco Field and he hasn't played since, but Mariners manager Scott Servais expressed optimism Tuesday that the speedy center fielder will be ready to go by the weekend.

Blue Jays activated OF Anthony Alford from the 10-day disabled list; optioned him to Double-A New Hampshire.

Alford is recovered from the left hamate fracture he suffered back in May, but the 22-year-old outfield prospect will continue to marinate in the minor leagues. We should see him back in the majors at some point down the stretch.
Jul 25 - 7:13 PM

Giants released OF Justin Ruggiano.

Ruggiano was pushed off San Francisco's 40-man roster back in early June after batting just .217/.238/.333 across 63 plate appearances and he exercised the opt-out in his minor league contract on Tuesday. The veteran outfielder turned 35 years old in April.
Jul 25 - 7:00 PM

Michael Conforto is not in the Mets' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Padres.

Curtis Granderson is in center field and batting leadoff, with Jay Bruce covering right field and hitting cleanup. This looks to be a routine breather for Conforto.
Jul 25 - 6:46 PM

According to Jon Morosi of MLB Network, the Brewers and Tigers are "engaged in ongoing discussions" on a trade involving both Ian Kinsler and Justin Wilson.

ESPN's Buster Olney was first to report word of the Brewers' interest in Kinsler last week. The veteran second baseman is batting just .248/.331/.399 with nine home runs and 28 RBI in 81 games this season, but he's only owed around $4 million and the Brewers are exploring a range of options to upgrade their roster for the stretch run. Wilson, a 29-year-old left-handed reliever, owns a 2.75 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 55/16 K/BB ratio in 39 1/3 innings this season with Detroit.
Jul 25 - 6:44 PM

Giants recalled RHP Chris Stratton from Triple-A Sacramento.

Stratton has a 9.00 ERA in one start and two relief appearances this season with San Francisco. The 26-year-old right-hander will presumably work in a bullpen role.
Jul 25 - 6:39 PM

Giants optioned OF/INF Orlando Calixte to Triple-A Sacramento.

The 25-year-old utilityman has batted just .172/.242/.207 in 33 plate appearances this season at the major league level. Chris Stratton will fill his roster spot.
