Coach Marvin Lewis has emphasized starting fast on defense in Week 3 of the preseason.

DL Marcus Hardison told the Cincinnati Enquirer, "Start out the game strong – like coach says, take their breath away." The Bengals will look to improve on Saturday after allowing an 80-yard scoring drive from Tampa Bay to start their Week 2 preseason contest. The Cincinnati D/ST will be an interesting Week 1 fantasy option as they travel to Oakland to face the Raiders, who were seventh in the NFL with 29 turnovers in 2014.

Cleveland CB Joe Haden is expected to make his 2015 preseason debut on Saturday against Tampa Bay.

The Browns will allow their star defensive back to knock some rust off in Week 3 of the preseason before likely sitting out the Cleveland preseason finale. The Cleveland D/ST unit has been an afterthought in fantasy drafts this summer, but will be useful in Week 1 of the regular season as they face the New York Jets in a game with the lowest expected point total from oddsmakers on the opening NFL slate.

The Texans won’t increase the playing time of their starters in Week 3 of the NFL preseason.

Head coach Bill O’Brien told the Houston Chronicle that the playing time is "going to be very, very similar to the first two games." This development won’t have a significant impact on the outlook for the Texans defense in 2015, but will give the Houston coaching staff another opportunity to get their entire roster reps as they look for possible defensive roster depth. The Houston D/ST is currently being drafted as the third fantasy defense in drafts behind the name-value of star J.J Watt.

Ravens safety Will Hill told CSN Baltimore that the Baltimore starting safeties are a "deadly duo."

Hill, who was just inked to a contract extension through the 2016 season, spoke highly of the relationship between he and fellow safety Kendrick Lewis. Fantasy owners snagging the Ravens D/ST in drafts would benefit from a solid season out of Hill, Lewis, and the rest of the Baltimore secondary as the team intercepted just 11 passes in 2014.

Cardinals intern LB coach Jen Welter called her time with the team "a complete win."

The NFL’s first female coach will see her training camp internship come to an end but said, "The biggest question coming in was would guys in the NFL respond to a woman coaching them, and the obvious answer is yes." Welter worked with the Arizona inside linebackers this summer under defensive coordinator James Bettcher. Arizona’s D/ST unit is currently the sixth group off the board in fantasy drafts.

Eagles ILB Kiko Alonso is expected to play in the team's third preseason game.

After missing all of his sophomore season with a torn ACL and the first two preseason games with a concussion, it will be Alonso's first game action since 2013. DeMeco Ryans' recovery from an Achilles injury has gone slower than expected, so Alonso and Mychal Kendricks should open the season as the Eagles' primary inside linebackers.

The Buffalo defense will emphasize focus on pre-snap communication in their third preseason game.

"I think that’s going to be the main thing for us," DT Kyle Williams told BuffaloBills.com. New head coach Rex Ryan will work to improve on an outstanding 2014 season for the Buffalo defense that is being selected as the second D/ST off the board in fantasy drafts.

Lions DE Phillip Hunt "has been one of the team’s best pass rushers" this preseason according to the Detroit Free Press.

Hunt may be on the bubble when roster cuts roll around, but he has been a solid addition to the Detroit defensive line that is attempting to fill the void left by Ndamukong Suh. The Detroit D/ST group was a solid producer in fantasy leagues in 2014, but is being drafted 16th among fantasy defenses this summer. If the Lions can replace some of Suh’s impact with new DT Haloti Ngata, then the Detroit D/ST could provide value as a late-round selection.
