ESPN's Josina Anderson reports Cardinals RB Chris Johnson (hamstring) will play in Thursday's preseason finale.
It's a sign his roster spot is far from assured. Johnson has barely practiced since signing two weeks ago, and Bruce Arians isn't the kind of coach who makes moves on faith. CJ has to show something to crack Arizona's running back corps.
ESPN Falcons reporter Vaughn McClure said Roddy White (elbow) will return to "some activity" next week.
White underwent elbow surgery a little more than a week ago. The expectation was White would ready by Week 1, but it is concerning he will return to just "some" activity next week. Even if the elbow heals, White will require sporadic drainings of his knee throughout the season.
Panthers waived S Robert Lester, WR/CB De'Andre Presley, DE Kenny Horsley and DT Micanor Regis.
Lester appeared in 12 games for the Panthers in 2013, making four starts. He's only 27, but it bodes poorly he couldn't survive until final cuts.
Texans placed G/T David Quessenberry (lymphoma) on the reserve/NFI list.
Quessenberry was sidelined all of 2014 while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation. He will miss at least the first six games of the season, but the fact that he has a shot of playing this season is a great story. Houston also waived/injured S Terrence Parks and TE Anthony Denham and waived LB Jeff Tarpinian and P Will Johnson.
Colts DT Arthur Jones is getting a second opinion on his injured ankle.
Jones was injured in the third preseason game. X-rays came back negative, but it is not a great sign Jones is seeing a second opinion. At this point, it does not appear Jones will be ready for Week 1.
Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said the team will keep using two tight ends despite the hand injury to Julius Thomas.
Even with Thomas out this preseason, the Jaguars have continued to use two tight ends in their base formation. This is good news for Clay Harbor, who should slot into Thomas' spot while he is out the first three weeks of the season. Harbor averaged 3.5 catches a game while Marcedes Lewis was sidelined last season.
According to Pro Football Focus, Jimmy Graham has been used as a run blocker on 36.5 percent of his 52 preseason snaps.
Graham was used as a run blocker on 27.1 percent of his snaps in New Orleans last season. Seattle threw the ball 200 fewer times than the Saints last season, meaning Graham is almost certain to see fewer than the 138 targets he has averaged the last four seasons. He has the touchdown upside to make up for the lost volume, but he is being over-drafted in the third round.
Rams waived/released DT Doug Worthington and LB Keshaun Malone.
A seventh-round pick of the Steelers in 2010, Worthington has played in six career games. The moves get St. Louis to the 75-man roster limit.
