Rick Porcello was hammered for seven earned runs over two innings Wednesday in a loss to the Blue Jays.

Porcello yielded five runs in the first inning and two more in the second in another awful outing. The 26-year-old right-hander now has a 6.08 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over his first 16 starts with the Red Sox. He is not looking anything like a $20 million per year pitcher.

Michael Cuddyer (knee) isn't expected to require a trip to the disabled list.

Cuddyer had to leave Tuesday's game with a left knee injury, but an MRI apparently didn't show any serious damage. The Mets think he'll only have to sit out a few days.

Yankees OF prospect Aaron Judge mashed four hits Tuesday for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

It was his first career four-hit game. Tuesday also marked Judge's first career start in center field. The 2013 first-round pick has hit .276 in 29 at-bats since getting called up from Double-A Trenton. At 6'7 and 275 pounds, the 23-year-old has power written all over him.

Addison Russell is not in the Cubs' lineup Wednesday.

He's just receiving a day off. Jonathan Herrera is at second base while Russell rests.

Twins optioned DH Kennys Vargas to Double-A Chattanooga.

Vargas had one hit in three at-bats on Wednesday, pushing up his season line to a still-awful .245/.277/.365. The Twins will not announce a corresponding roster move until Thursday, but there's been speculation that they could call up Miguel Sano.

Trevor May suffered a loss despite a nice effort Wednesday, yielding just two runs -- one earned -- over 6 1/3 innings versus the Reds.

May might have been pitching for his spot in the rotation and showed well, allowing six hits and three walks while recording six strikeouts. It was a much-needed bounce-back effort from the right-hander after he failed to make it out of the first inning in his last outing. Ervin Santana will join the rotation on Sunday, and May might be the likely to be demoted despite today's effort. If he sticks around, he'll face the Orioles next week.

Brandon Phillips doubled and scored a run in Wednesday's win over the Twins.

Playing in his first game since Sunday, Phillips just snuck in ahead of a throw from left fielder Shane Robinson to score on Joey Votto's sac fly in the third inning. Billy Hamilton later scored on an error and that was all the Reds needed in the pitcher's duel. Phillips has a modest seven-game hitting streak going.

Mariners OF prospect Alex Jackson hammered his first home run of the season Tuesday in a win for Low-A Everett.

Jackson hadn't homered since July 18 of last year. The 19-year-old hurt his shoulder in May and spent about a month in extended spring training before resurfacing with Everett. In his first 11 games back, he's hit .282 with four extra-base hits. Jackson is No. 22 on MLB.com's list of top prospects.
