Padres shortstop prospect Trea Turner went 2-for-5 with a home run for Low-A Fort Wayne on Wednesday.

Turner is now hitting .476/.548/.667 over 16 games with Fort Wayne, and has 10 walks to go with 11 strikeouts. Turner's high average and .191 isolated slugging have come as a welcome surprise for the Padres front office, as Turner is viewed as a glove-first shortstop with good speed who is unlikely to hit for much power.

WEEI's Alex Speier reports that the A's have acquired left-hander Jon Lester and outfielder Jonny Gomes from the Red Sox for outfielder Yoenis Cespedes.

Boston also gets a competitive-balance pick in the 2015 MLB Amateur Draft. Without many elite-level prospects remaining in the wake of the Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel trade, the A's had to get creative to work out a deal for Lester. And this sure is creative. Cespedes has big-time power, a huge throwing arm, and is under contractual control through 2015, so it's a big piece to give up for the penny-pinching A's. Lester, who can become a free agent this winter, gets a sizable fantasy boost with the move to pitcher-friendly Oakland.

Mets outfield prospect Michael Conforto went 3-for-3 with a walk, a hit by pitch, and a stolen base for short season-A Brooklyn on Wednesday.

Conforto is hitting .409/.490/.523 with five doubles over his first 12 professional games. He is doing what is to be expected of him in a short season league, and could be promoted for a few weeks with Low-A Savannah before the season ends. He has the potential to hit .300 with 15-plus home runs in his peak.

Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports that Jon Lester has been traded to a yet-to-be identified team.

Passan only says it's a "West Coast" club. The Dodgers and A's are known to have been in the hunt for the 30-year-old left-hander, who boasts a 2.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 149/32 K/BB ratio in 143 innings this season for Boston. CBS Sports' Jon Heyman suspects that Lester is headed to Oakland.

Indians first base prospect Jesus Aguilar went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, and two walks for Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

The 24-year old Aguilar is hitting .291/.385/.486 with Triple-A Columbus, but .188/.300/.188 with Cleveland. Aguilar will likely see more time with the Indians this year, but it may not be until rosters expand in September.

Blue Jays catching prospect Max Pentecost went 2-for-5 with a triple for short season-A Vancouver on Wednesday, raising his season line to .305/.323/.390.

Pentecost has hits in 12 of the 14 games in which he has appeared with Vancouver, but he has struck out 13 times in 62 plate appearances (21 percent), including eight times in the last three games. His overall line is solid, but it is what a first round pick who went to college should be doing in a short season-A league.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Astros have made starting pitcher Scott Feldman available.

But the 30-year-old right-hander signed a three-year, $30 million contract with Houston last offseason and hasn't pitched well enough to justify it, so the Astros may have a hard time finding a trade partner. Feldman owns a 4.39 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 19 starts this season.

Andy Dirks (back) is scheduled to resume his minor league rehab assignment Friday with Low-A West Michigan.

Dirks had his rehab halted in mid-July after experiencing renewed inflammation in his surgically-repaired lower back. There is no longer a timetable for his return.
