Corey Seager went 1-for-4 and drove in three runs as the Dodgers took the series opener against the Tigers in Detroit on Friday.

Seager knocked a go-ahead two-run single with two outs in the second inning and the Dodgers would never look back. He added a sacrifice fly later in the ballgame. He's now slashing .310/.397/.517 with 19 homers and 62 RBI.

Rich Hill earned his ninth victory of the season on Friday, limiting the Tigers to three runs on six hits across five frames.

The veteran southpaw walked three and struck out five on the night. The Tigers jumped on him for a pair of runs in the first inning, but Hill settled in nicely afterwards and the Dodgers' offense provided plenty of support. He'll carry a 3.54 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 112/40 K/BB ratio into Wednesday's matchup against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Justin Upton had a monster day at the plate in Friday's loss to the Dodgers, going 4-for-5 with a pair of home runs and three RBI.

Upton opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI double off of Rich Hill in the first inning. He then smacked a solo homer that scraped the wall in left field in the third inning, pulling the Tigers to within a run at 4-3. Upton provided a special encore in the ninth, blasting a no-doubter off of Dodgers' star closer Kenley Jansen. He's enjoying a fantastic season overall, slashing .285/.368/.545 with 25 homers and 88 RBI.

Jordan Zimmermann was hit hard in Friday's loss to the Dodgers, surrendering seven runs on 10 hits over his 5 1/3 innings of work.

The right-hander punched out five on the night while walking two. The Dodgers pushed across four runs against him in the second inning then tacked on another pair in the fourth to take control. Wilson Ramos went 3-for-4 as his squad was pummeled by the Mariners on Friday.

The rest of the Rays' roster managed just one knock in the ballgame. Ramos has nine hits in his last four starts since fixing a flaw in his swing on Monday. Prior to that game he had a .170 batting average for the season. He is up to .224 now. The veteran is capable of being one of the top hitting catchers in the league when he's hot.

Austin Pruitt was nailed for six runs over four innings in a lopsided loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Things could have been worse considering he allowed 14 base runners (11 hits, two walks and a hit batsman) in four frames. At least he kept the ball in the yard. This was his sixth start of the season in addition to 17 relief appearances. He has a 5.37 ERA and 1.55 WHIP with 47 strikeouts in 62 innings. He will face the Cardinals on the road next week.
