Troy Tulowitzki had a huge day at the plate on Friday against the Phillies, going 3-for-3 with a home run, five RBI, a walk, and two runs scored.

Tulo terrorized the Phillies on Friday, delivering a three-run homer in the second inning, an RBI double in the fourth, and an RBI single in the sixth. Oh, and he also drew a 14-pitch walk against Jonathan Pettibone in a four-run first inning. The veteran shortstop is hitting .360 (18-for-50) with eight extra-base hits (two home runs), 11 RBI, and a .460 on-base percentage through 16 games. It goes without saying, but he's a fantasy monster when healthy.

Tyler Chatwood gave up an unearned run on two hits and a walk over seven innings in a 12-1 blowout win over the Phillies on Friday.

Chatwood didn't give up his first hit until Cody Asche singled against him with two outs in the fifth inning. The next batter, Jayson Nix, then drove in the only run of the game against him. He struck out six in the victory. Chatwood's ability to induce grounders comes in handy at Coors Field, but he doesn't miss enough bats to be all that interesting in standard fantasy leagues.

Charlie Blackmon went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored against the Phillies on Friday.

Nice to see after he went 1-for-10 over his previous three games. That qualifies as an extended slump for him. Blackmon is now hitting .426 (26-for-61) with seven extra-base hits, 10 RBI, four stolen bases, and 11 runs scored through 18 games this season. We wouldn't rule out the possibility that he'll remain useful in mixed leagues all season, but there might still be some time to sell high here.

Cody Asche went 1-for-3 with a single in Friday's loss to the Rockies.

Asche broke up Tyler Chatwood's no-hit bid with a two-out single in the fifth inning. It snapped a personal 0-for-16 hitless streak. The 23-year-old third baseman is hitting .195/.283/.317 through 15 games this season.
Apr 19 - 1:26 AM

Carlos Ruiz went 0-for-3 with a run scored Friday against the Rockies.

Ruiz reached base on an error by Nolan Arenado in the fifth inning and scored the only run of the evening for Philadelphia. The 35-year-old backstop owns a healthy .345 on-base percentage through 13 games, but he's hitting just .217 and has yet to drive in a run. Those in two-catcher mixed leagues can likely do better these days.

Tyson Ross shut out the Giants for eight innings and struck out nine in a victory Friday.

Ross was shaky and wild in his first two starts of the year, but he's allowed one run in 15 innings and posted a 16/2 K/BB ratio in the last two. He's talented enough to remain a useful mixed-league starter all year long.

Huston Street gave up a solo homer to Brandon Belt in the ninth inning Friday, but he still nailed down his sixth save in six chances.

It was the first run allowed by Street in seven innings this season. He gave up a whopping 12 homers in 56 2/3 innings last year.
Apr 19 - 1:02 AM

Matt Cain was a hard-luck loser after limiting the Padres to an unearned run over seven innings on Friday.

The lone run came on the first on what was originally ruled a wild pitch, but was later changed to a passed ball. Cain struck out eight for the second start in a row. He's now 0-3 despite a 2.88 ERA. The Giants are scoring runs, just not for him.
