Jon Jay (wrist) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday with Low-A Peoria.

Jay is eligible to return from the disabled list on Tuesday, but the Cardinals have been getting great production from Peter Bourjos and Randal Grichuk so they'll let Jay get his timing right with some minor league at-bats. Jay should return to St. Louis' active roster around the end of this week. He's been out since May 10 with tendinitis in his surgically-repaired left wrist.

Dodgers pitching prospect Zach Lee improved to 5-3 Sunday with a win for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The 2010 first-round pick threw 59 of his 88 pitches for strikes, allowing four hits and no runs. The seven-inning effort lowered his season ERA to 2.52, fifth-best in the Pacific Coast League. The 23-year-old seems to have turned the corner after struggling badly in his first season in Triple-A (5.38 ERA in 150 2/3 innings for Albuquerque last season). He'll be someone the Dodgers could look to if they need rotation help later in the year.

Rangers placed RHP Neftali Feliz on the 15-day disabled list with an axillary abscess on his right side.

That doesn't sound very fun. Feliz was dumped from the Rangers' ninth-inning role in mid-May and Shawn Tolleson has handled the club's last three save opportunities with relative ease. Tolleson, who boasts a 29/4 K/BB ratio in 20 1/3 innings this season, is clearly the guy to own now from the Texas bullpen. There is no timetable for Neftali's return to action.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny suggested Monday that Jon Jay (wrist) might be sent out on a rehab assignment.

Jay is eligible to return from the disabled list Tuesday and he took batting practice with his Cardinals teammates again on Monday afternoon, but Matheny said he wants to make sure the 30-year-old center fielder has his timing right when he's added back to the active roster. Peter Bourjos and Randal Grichuk have done a great job filling in, so that's probably part of this.

Rangers pitching prospect Frank Lopez made it through 6 1/3 scoreless innings Sunday in his debut for Double-A Frisco.

Lopez cruised to his first Double-A win, generating 12 groundouts on 75 pitches. The 21-year-old left-hander has fanned 48 hitters this season including 15 over his last two outings. Before his promotion, Lopez had the fourth-lowest WHIP in the California League at a crisp 1.01.

Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said Monday that Miguel Cabrera has been dealing with a "cranky ankle."

That's part of the reason for his absence Monday, though Ausmus said it's only a minor thing. Cabrera should return to the Tigers' starting lineup on Tuesday night. Hernan Perez is starting at first base for Detroit in Monday's series opener at Oakland's O.co Coliseum.

Marlins pitching prospect Trevor Williams threw 6 1/3 shutout innings Sunday for Double-A Jacksonville.

65 of his 96 pitches went for strikes. The win was Williams' first in 12 Double-A starts. The 23-year-old excelled at High-A in 2014 (2.79 ERA in 23 starts for Jupiter), but hasn't had much success since his last promotion. His 5.40 ERA this season is fifth-highest among Southern League starters. Williams had been 0-4 with a 9.50 ERA this month prior to Sunday's outing.

Giants activated 1B Travis Ishikawa from the 15-day disabled list; designated him for assignment.

Ishikawa, the hero of last year's NLCS, is now off the Giants' 40-man roster. He had been on the disabled list since the end of spring training with a lower back strain.
