Sam Fuld - OF - Rays

Sam Fuld is in the Rays' starting lineup on Monday afternoon against the Blue Jays.

Fuld has played only 11 complete games this year and is hitting just .190/.288/.224 in 67 plate appearances. He will start in left and bat seventh versus Toronto.

Trevor Rosenthal has not allowed a run since April 24.

Rosenthal had a rough first month but is back to his dominating ways here in May. The hard-throwing 22-year-old right-hander boasts a 2.42 ERA and 32/6 K/BB ratio in 22 1/3 innings this season and should continue to be a solid source of holds all year. He has been the most heavily-used reliever in the major leagues thus far.

Danny Hultzen (shoulder) has begun playing catch.

Hultzen was shut down in late April with a left rotator cuff strain and general shoulder tendinitis. The Mariners are expected to take it very slowly with their prized pitching prospect. He had a cool 2.78 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 25/6 K/BB ratio through his first 22 2/3 innings (four starts) this season at Triple-A Tacoma and could reach the major leagues later this summer if he can get healthy.
May 20 - 10:50 AM

Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Monday that Anthony Gose will not be an everyday player.

The talented 22-year-old outfielder was promoted from Triple-A Buffalo on Monday morning but isn't likely to hold much value in standard mixed fantasy leagues. Gibbons said Gose will "help out on defense" and as a pinch-runner. He will not make very many starts.
May 20 - 10:40 AM

Rays optioned LHP Jeff Beliveau to Triple-A Durham.

Beliveau was up in the majors for only two days and did not make an appearance in a game. The 26-year-old left-hander was sporting a 4.35 ERA in 10 appearances at the Triple-A level at the time of his promotion.
May 20 - 10:29 AM

David Freese needed stitches along the base of his right thumb after Sunday's win over the Brewers.

Freese suffered a small gash while applying a diving tag on Norichika Aoki's cleat at home plate. The Cardinals' third baseman does not expect to miss any playing time. He's finally starting to come alive offensively after a dreadful first month-plus and might make for a decent buy-low candidate in some fantasy formats.
May 20 - 10:02 AM

Blue Jays recalled OF Anthony Gose from Triple-A Buffalo.

Gose batted .223/.303/.319 in 189 plate appearances last season with Toronto. The 22-year-old has good speed and some raw power, but he is not a polished enough hitter at this point to make a big impact in the majors. He can be ignored in most mixed formats.
May 20 - 9:31 AM

Blue Jays optioned RHP Mickey Storey to Triple-A Buffalo.

Storey allowed three earned runs in 3 2/3 innings during his 10-day stint with Toronto. He'll be back eventually.
