Cubs activated RHP Joe Nathan from the 60-day disabled list.

Nathan has finished rehabbing from his second Tommy John surgery and will see if he has anything left in the tank for the Cubbies. The 41-year-old held a 4.81 ERA in 2014 in his last full season, although he did strike out nearly a batter per frame. Nathan allowed four runs and struck out nine over 9 1/3 innings while on a rehab assignment.

Cubs optioned RHP Adam Warren to Triple-A Iowa.

Warren has disappointed for the Cubs this season with a 5.91 ERA and 27/19 K/BB ratio over 35 innings. Joe Nathan has assumed his spot in the bullpen.

MLB.com's Scott Merkin reports that Chris Sale is not expected to be at the ballpark on Sunday.

Sale was scratched from Saturday's start and sent home after a run-in with the front office regarding throwback uniforms that he didn't want to wear. The White Sox have listed him as the scheduled starter on Thursday against the Cubs, although that could be tentative. Sale has also been mentioned as a trade candidate.
