Kevin Gausman picked up his fifth win of the season, allowing three runs in seven frames against the Angels as the Orioles hung on by a 4-3 margin on Wednesday.

Gausman was able to finish the seventh inning for only the second time in 10 starts this season. He brought a no-hitter into the fifth inning, but lost it after walking the bases loaded with two outs, allowing a two-run single and an RBI double. Overall, Gausman surrendered three hits, walked three, and struck out two. The 23-year-old has been solid out of the rotation, holding a 3.70 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and a 37/21 K/BB ratio. He'll take the hill on Monday in Washington against the Nationals as the two squads will make up July 8's postponed game.

Garrett Richards fell to 11-4 after allowing four runs over seven innings in Wednesday's loss to the Orioles.

After nearly two months of stellar pitching, Richards has appeared mortal in his last two starts, having also allowed four runs over six innings in last week's start against the Tigers. On Wednesday, he yielded six hits -- including a two-run home run to Adam Jones -- while walking none and striking out four. The right-hander still has superb numbers, carrying a 2.74 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and a 143/46 K/BB ratio. He'll try to bounce back on Monday in a road start against the Dodgers.

Giants released OF Tyler Colvin.

Colvin hit a disappointing .223/.268/.381 with the Giants this season. With Brandon Belt's return imminent, the club decided to part ways with the 28-year-old. He'll likely catch on with another club as a bench bat or organizational depth.

Giants released 2B Dan Uggla.

Well, that was quick. Uggla played in just four games for the Giants, going hitless in 11 at-bats and committing three errors in the field. The Giants are rumored to be in the market for a second baseman before the trade deadline. Uggla's release emphasizes that idea.

Zach Britton had an easy ninth inning, allowing only a two-out infield single, in the process of grabbing his 21st save of the season in Wednesday's win against the Angels.

Just another easy outing for the 26-year-old left-hander. He has allowed a run in only one out of his last 18 appearances. Overall, he is 21-for-24 in save opportunities with a 1.65 ERA, a 0.90 WHIP, and a 48/14 K/BB ratio in 54 2/3 innings.

Adam Jones went yard for the 21st time this season and finished 2-for-4 overall on Wednesday as the Orioles edged out the Angels for a win.

Jones belted a two-run home run off of Garrett Richards in the first inning to stake the Orioles to a 2-0 lead. The outfielder went yard last night as well, giving him five long balls in 12 games since returning from the All-Star break. On the season, Jones owns a .294/.321/.498 slash line with 67 RBI and six stolen bases.

Michael Wacha (shoulder) could begin a throwing program next week.

Wacha will undergo an MRI on the shoulder on Monday, and if the results are positive he could begin to throw shortly after. Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak likened Wacha's situation to a pitcher starting spring training, so he's likely still roughly a month away from a return. The Cardinals are hoping the 23-year-old can contribute down the stretch in September.

Alex Rios left Wednesday's game after being hit by a pitch in the left quadriceps muscle.

Rios was hit in the third inning, and he was replaced by Dan Robertson in right field to start the fifth inning. Rios was hitless in one at-bat before exiting. The outfielder's name has been prevalent in trade rumors in recent days, so it may have been his last game as a member of the Rangers.
