X-rays on Denard Span's right shoulder came back negative.
Span injured the shoulder when he collided with the outfield wall on Saturday. While it appears he's avoided a serious injury, he's sitting out Sunday and could potentially miss more time. Gorkys Hernandez is in center field in his place.
A.J. Pollock is absent from the Diamondbacks' lineup Sunday.
It's a routine day off. Chris Owings and Yasmany Tomas are also getting breathers, as the D'Backs have Jeremy Hazelbaker in center field, Nick Ahmed at shortstop and Daniel Descalso in left field.
Brett Nicholas (knee) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
Nicholas had surgery on his left meniscus last month. He'll remain in Round Rock after completing his rehab assignment.
Sam Dyson (hand) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Round Rock on Monday.
He'll make back-to-back appearances for Round Rock on Monday and Tuesday. Dyson is eligible for activation from the disabled list on Thursday, and it's looking like he'll be ready at that time. He will not, however, regain his closer job.
Tyler Thornburg (shoulder) remained limited to long tossing.
Thornburg hasn't thrown off a mound in a month as he works his way back from a right shoulder impingement. Obviously, he's not going to be rejoining the Red Sox' bullpen anytime soon.
Jonathan Lucroy is not in the Rangers' lineup Sunday.
Lucroy's slow start and Robinson Chirinos' hot start has resulted in more days off than expected for the All-Star catcher in the early going. Mike Napoli is also resting Sunday, as Ryan Rua is at first base.
Athletics transferred RHP Chris Bassitt from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Ryan LaMarre. Bassitt is looking at a midseason return from Tommy John surgery.
A.J. Griffin (ankle) played catch in the outfield Sunday.
Griffin went on the disabled list due to gout in his left ankle, but it won't stop him from continuing a throwing program. He might only miss one start.
